I was just fowarded this article, does anyone know about it??
A new pub has been opened in Amsterdam: the Amsterdam Ice Bar.
The 'glasses' in the bar are made of ice, and the temperature inside is 8 degrees below zero. Visitors get special clothing to withstand the cold.
The Ice Bar also has a warm lounge recover from this ice-cold adventure. The interior (designs are by the well-known Dutch designer Jan des Bouvrie) will be renewed twice a year, because it tends to melt.
The staff will be replace every few hours as well.
Heineken will introduce a new type of beer in the Ice Bar: Heineken Extra Cold, which will be on draught from a so-called 'frosted ice tap'. Apparently, the beer is already a great success, and it will be for sale within a few weeks in various pubs and clubs in Amsterdam and elsewhere.
The Amsterdam Ice Bar is located at Amstel 194-196, opposite the Stopera (City Hall) and near Rembrandtplein. The entrance is E 15.

This sounds like the Red Square Bar in Las Vegas. At Red Square, the special clothing you wear is a large Russian-style fur jacket.

Sounds like the Ice Bar located inside the Park Inn Hotel in Stockholm. ( I am pretty sure that is the right hotel ) . I have been there twice. It is like 25-50 yards from the Central Train Station .. The one in Amsterdam charges 15 Euros to get in ?? The one in Stockholm, if I remember correctly, is free, but you must have a reservation. You just cannot walk in. I think Absolut has something to do with it. They only serve vOdka drinks there. I remember going to the bar, and asking the bartender for a beer. He just stared at me. He said, if we had beer in here, it would freeze !!
Mark Cheech- I think you meant 8 degrees below zero Celsius , not Farenheit...A big difference to us in the USA !!
Best Regards

Last year I vsited the Ice Bar in Stockholme. Quite a unique experience. Yes the glasses are cast in ice as is the bar, furniture and walls. No frosted beer there...just fancy fruity vodka drinks. Each punter was issued with a big warm jacket and gloves.
