Argentina's Supreme Court has just ruled it unconstitutional to prosecute an adult for private cannabis use. This comes only days after Mexico decriminalized possession of small amounts of not only cannabis, but friggin coke and heroin as well. Now if only this eventually leads to coffeeshops on this side of the Atlantic!

And with hopeful sounds coming from Brazil and Ecuador as well, fingers crossed this results in Amsterdam style smart shops and coffee shops being tolerated in South America in the near future. The more countries that decriminalise the merrier so that drug tourists won't all concentrate on Amsterdam and it'll relieve some of the pressure.

Decriminalisation is a good first step but full legalisation would be better so that people won't have to buy from the criminals, and the money generated via tax going to help ease the debts countries have piled up due to the recession.
