No cheap flights to Amsterdam here but if you want to visit Vegas, San Francisco, Reno, Los Angeles, or Phoenix flights are as low as $30 - $60 each way depending on the distance.

Oaksterdam for New Years?

Air Berlin has been running 39 Euro all-in specials lately. I snagged one before they implemented the new tax, and added 25 Euro Rail-and-Fly on top of it.

Thanks for the heads up 420!

When in the California, Nevada, Arizona areas those prices are practically pocket change.

Even outside those areas the prices are better than normal. I might need to make a trip to Las Vegas to do some investment research. I've also been thinking about a trip to Oaksterdam recently as well ... never been.

Southwest has some great "late booking" flights...to select cities. Just have to constantly watch their website for the latest deal.

My trip to Vegas a couple of weeks ago I flew SW. When planning ahead for your trip (it was a business trip) their prices are comparable to the other airlines. Their big advantage over the others on the Indianapolis - Vegas flight is it is one of the few non-stops.

With Southwest buying Airtran things should get better for their flights to the eastern seaboard.

Also, watch Frontier. They were bought by Republic Airlines (one of the largest regional carriers) and merged with Midwest Airlines. They should start offering some better flights as well.

@br1965

Nice tip with Frontier Airlines ...

I didn't book a flight with the sale but when I move back to US south west I like taking these short cheap flights for quick vacations. However, next time I am in Vegas I will make ask all the Pit Bosses whether they are holding some of your money and tell them I am there to collect and return it ... lol ;-)

The gambling in Las Vegas use to be much better 20 years ago. I use to play blackjack and count cards. In those days one could get a slight winning advantage plus great comps for very little play. Now that the corporations have taken over the city they are systematically fleecing the gamblers. Regarding blackjack - they have introduced many more shoe decks, instituted dealer rules not allowing much deck penetration, reduced the number of tables to keep them full (bad for counters), etc. I really use to like Binions Horseshoe Casino downtown before it was bought out.
