I just changed up some of my holiday funds.

£509 = 640 EURO

Last year £500 gbp = 725 Euro

So on a £2,000 trip budget hotels and all in =340 EURO LESS.

That could have been 4 hours in Park 118.=unhappy!!!

It's grim mate, but at least we do better than our American friends (I think). While the rates are poor, it's time to tighten our belts and NOT pay extra just to stick a finger up a ladies bottom, or to sniff her knickers etc..

Um.. we.. er.. all do these "extra" things, don't we?!?

Yeah, i've been keeping an eye on it as i'm going very soon!!!!Really is depressing to think that i will lose a couple of 50E sessions on a night out just because of the exchange rate!! :(

Hope things pick back up and this isn't permanent!!!!

The dollar hit an all time low against the euro today. It's $1.52 to 1 euro. It was $0.83 to 1 euro when the changeover went into effect. Hopefully, it'll pick up a few cents by the time I return at the end of April.

Ouch! The old rate the dollar had against the euro is what sterling is now, more or less. So for it to almost double is shocking. I feel your pain brother :(

Holy crap, that's shocking. Didn't realise you guys had it that bad!!!!! We seem to be about £1.23/£1.24 to the Pound at the moment, where-as not too long ago you could get mid to high £1.30's!!! So if you change up a grand for a weekend you are losing about 100E!! :(

I see now why many Americans can't afford it as i guess you guys can't do the short weekend visits we do really!!

I recall on a visit last year one girl taking £30 off me when I ran out of €'s (hay the ctrl+alt+4 works, I think it's black magic!). Is it possible to pay or negotiate in £ or $ ?

Well I can really relate to the big exchange rate being canadian a few years ago I was only getting .65 cents to the american dollar and it was costing me 1.70 for a euro, now the canadian dollar is par or better then the american dollar and I can get euros for around 1.50. Either way I enjoyed my times and cannot find a better place to go for entertainment value.

You tell me. I've had trouble reaching her in the last few weeks. I either go straight to her voicemail or get nothing. If you see her again, tell her I'll be back on April 23rd... And tell her to call me. ;-)

Working in the Netherlands, earning euros, and with a UK student loan to pay off in GBP, I guess I'm the only person in this thread who's very happy with the current situation.

Sorry guys. :D

Just a thought......would there be any improvement changing money up at Schipol rather than here as we notoriously get ripped with the price of everything in the UK??? I can't say i've ever noticed an exchange place there.....although it's usually head down straight to the trains for me

Not everything is more expensive in the UK.

In December I bought a 750GB HDD in the UK for 110GBP from Currys.Digital (Maxtor, 5 year warranty), but in the Netherlands, I couldn't find a 750GB HDD anywhere for anything cheaper than 160EUR, and that was a shit brand (Lacie) with only 1 year warranty.
