The post from Pussy has promted me to ask the question; what wording appears on credit card statements when making a donation to the board.

I haven't made a donation because of my concerns about this. The last thing I want is my wife to find "AmsterdamXXX the Walletjes" on my statement. My balls would be rendered useless

Thanks for the information, but knowing how the mods react to questions, I made sure I pushed the button and read before asking. Although I was satisfied about the security issues, it did not make it clear to me what words appear on my own personal credit card statement.

As it was not clear to me, I felt the need to seeking clarification from a supporting member who already has made the donation.

So despite the kind response so far, I am still none the wiser

I started to make a donation today, but when I entered the amount, the site rejected it, saying that only amounts up tp $50 could be accepted. WTF??? I can't donate more?

Also, the site says that no information about me will be shared with the recipient. So how does ignatzmice know who sent the money?

I had a similar problem with the donations system last month. At the time, the site itself was also having some problems, so I dropped it, but here goes ...

Is there another way I can donate, that is other than the on-line donation system (which simply does not work when I try it) ???

Amazon works for most people. We wish we could offer more, and at one time we did offer Paypal. But when Paypal was acquired by Ebay a few years ago, they changed their terms of service. Any site with adult content had their account closed. This adult content is this very Message Board, there is no explicit adult content elsewhere on the site. And for that we pay a price. We're the only large Amsterdam site that offers members an opportunity to openly discuss sex and the permitted/tolerated drugs---the topics that many people come to Amsterdam for. The others cannot host such topics because they would lose their Paypal and Google ads revenue (Google has similar rules). So we're stuck with our current (quite awful) text and banner adverts, that most people ignore, and why should they bother, anyway? We agree, it's crap, but it helps pay the bills.

I am sure many businesses here that utilize Google ads--hotels, restaurants, etc., would be happy to advertise here, but sadly Google imposes their prejudices upon them as well, they cannot place their adverts on this, the largest Amsterdam centered site...so we're stuck with a cheesy porn advert network.

Amazon, while also based in the USA along with the others, has so far been far more mature about the issue (imposing USA-centered views upon the rest of the world). We're quite grateful to them.

I P.M.ed Wim and asked if I could donate through the mail or even offered to hand it to him when I go over in March. Over a month and no response. I am not some psycho stalker just wanted to thank you and the rest of the crew for all the good info and great forum. I cannot imagine the work and cost that goes into maintaining this site but a response would not have hurt. I don't get it...

We're currently without a processing service. They're not easy to come by now, for the relatively small volume involved with us (i.e., not $5000 per month).

Finding one who doesn't find our 'adult' content objectionable complicates the matter even further.

As soon as we have something together again, you'll be the first to know. Promise!

Just a suggestion - is there a friendly coffeeshop/smartshop you'd trust to receive donations for your site?

Since Paniked in particular seems to be doing the rounds regularly, he could be the one to pickup the
donations, or equivalent in units of 1gram. Might not do the site much good, but I'm sure it would help
the weekly weed report along...

Or maybe a postbox/maildrop somewhere convenient. A hotel perhaps? (leaving a letter for Mr Paniked...)

It seems most of the posters here actually visit Amsterdam, and that's when they find this board most useful,
so are most likely to want to donate, surely there's somebody's mailbox we could stuff a fifty into?

Or a bank a/c that a cash deposit could be made to by walking into a convenient branch, that would work, wouldn't it?

I have a few painful reasons not to use a credit card. I'm sure I am not the only one.
On the other hand, I love to use cash.
I've always thought a drop point in town would be useful for donations.
I'm sure you don't want a que of stoners lined up outside your flat, but there has to be some simple way to accomplish this. I would even mail to a post office box.

Any ideas?
