Is the Netherlands really the only country with such relaxed laws?

Allthough not sold as in Netherlands, it seem to be quite tolerated in Belgium too. I hung out with a girl from Brussels a while ago, and she told me that as long as you didn't carry more than a few grams, everything was usually cool. Guess it depends.

In Spain, it isn't a crime to possess or smoke weed, but you can't import it or buy it legally. Countries like Portugal don't consider it a crime.

Switzerland had places where you could buy it like in a store but I think they may be changing that.

Christiania in denmark has pusher street with weed and hash on open sale but i dont think the rest of denmark is as tolerant.

With a prescription you can walk into a medical marijuana dispensary here in California, Los Angeles has some of the finest selections available that I have seen and the list of buds which can be purchased on-site can top over 25 different varieties, they also have hasj and kief, all the sweet treats such as chocolate bars, brownies and much more.

In Laos, weed is so available to the point that you'll find items like "Happy Pizza" on a restaurant's menu where the usual herbs are supplemented by weed. But do note that any drugs are definitely still very illegal anywhere in SE Asia and owning larger quantities can get you into a lot of *very* unpleasant trouble (= Laos jail = not like a Hilton)

Almost a decade ago I found a small "Rock Bar" under a fairly decent Hotel in Prague, where someone was sawing up a massive block of pressed weed with a breadknife. It wasn't bad, either.

However, I'm not sure this was officially sanctioned... but I have heard it's pretty easy to score in some of the up-and-coming Eastern European nations and less touristy areas of the Czech Republic.

I plan to do a bit of research later in 2006.

cannabis in brixton, south london is NOT tolerated. in fact they are cracking down on it the entire time. as for the quality and quantity of what youre buying - dear oh dear. just because you can buy something with relative ease this does not make it tolerated. read recent press reports about the situation and how police and local residents are losing patience with the growing numbers of 'drug tourists' coming to the area. new police powers etc etc...
