The three southern provinces will have to close the cofffeeshops for foreigners as of 1-1-2012, but might get a few extra months to do so. Already in these cities coffeeshops are only open for Germans, Dutch and Belgian citizens. The rest of the country will have to follow as of 1-1-2013. Since major cities are opposed to the plans and this adminstration has a very thin base, chances are not unlikely it might get delayed, on the other hand we gotta admit this administration has made some firm and fast decisions past year.

As I've said all along.....no changes in Amsterdam until 2015, and even then it'll be possibility.

Hello Gents,
I am planning a trip to A-Dam in the middle of March of 2012. I heard coffeshops cannot sell cannabis to tourists anymore.
Can anyone tell me how I could still score some bud ? what if I have an escort bring it to my hotel room ?
Please let me know of I can get in trouble for this. Thanks.

Nothing implemented yet, go and enjoy! I'll probably be there in March too.

For anyone who is interested, there has been hundreds of articles posted within the last few days stating the ban is to be delayed until at least May 2012 in the South, but the ban will apply nationwide (including Amsterdam) beginning Jan 1, 2013.
Last chance to get your smoke on it would seem. Toke it while you can!
EDIT : Just noticed the guy above me posted much the same thing. But anyway, at least we will still have a bit of time for a last puff.

Thanks for the link Potlover!! :-) All positive on the coffeeshop side......and project 1012 is looking like it may just fail (though it looks like those rooms that were planned to shut later this year, are still going to go, but the rest of Sexyland area is positive!!)!! :-) I don't really enjoy posting the same old stuff for 6 months running, so I'm glad that what I've been saying since June last year has been confirmed again!! :-) I did say at least 3 cities on the borders would run this "members club" system, but Amsterdam wouldn't be effected......though there will be a review in Amsterdam (as presumably there will be in other cities aroudn The Netherlands) in 2015, but once again, it's not expected to change then either!!! Anyone who knows me on here, knows I'm not the confrontational type......however, Boobmanz, the way you've contradicted virtually everything I've said in this thread has pissed me off, and you were even very condescending towards one of akaDrPussy's posts as well!!! Yeah, neither of us live in Amsterdam or The Netherlands, however, it is blatantly obvious that we have a better grasp as to what is going on in Amsterdam than you!! I mean, with regards to you be condescending towards akaDrPussy's post, it turns out what that professor actually said, i.e. “The basis of a ban on the sale of soft drugs to foreigners must be set out in local by-laws,” he says. “If the City Council does not want to do so, the Federal Government can jump high and low, but it won’t happen.”Mmmm.....sounds familiar?? Oh, actually, that's what has happened, it's down to the individual cities to decide, not The Hague! (you said - "I understand you're hope for the better and I wish The Hague will reconsider, but it's in vain.") As for you pissing me off, it doesn't really matter, but just to say, these were some of your replies in this thread, usually in response to one of my posts: Boobmanz wrote: Sorry guys, it's definitely going trough, The highest judge in NL decided in favour of the government plans. Might take a while though before the wietpas is in effect, at least not before the new year. Plans are to start with 5 major cities in the southern part of the country, then being followed by the rest of the country.
I don't know where the year of 2015 is coming from, but obviously the one who stated this is not familiar with how current Dutch politics work. The current government has a very weak base in parlement (of the 150 members in parlement, the governing adminstration exactly counts 76 members), which means, which we have seen so far, they will force the typical 'right wing toys', like the wietpas a.s.a.p. because their majority is very fragile and might -given the current economic situation- collapse any time. New elections are in 2014, so also before 2015 when we probably will see a whole different government.
Latest: The three southern provinces will have to close it's coffeeshops to foreigners as off 1-1-2012, though might get an extra six months. Rest of the Netherlands will follow as of 1-1-2013 as the responsible minister stated today.
That was august, this week Minister of Justice Opstelten gave the final explanation: it will apply to the entire country, Amsterdam is still part of the Netherlands (wish it wasn't but no). The three southern provinces will have to close the cofffeeshops for foreigners as of 1-1-2012, but might get a few extra months to do so. I've just read from the grey area facebook group that the gov has fallen, new elections may be just behind the corner. Will see how this influence the weedpass thing, which afaik is still going to be implemented May 1st. http://news.yahoo.com/dutch-government- ... 33930.html

The shops in Maastricht have already said that they will ignore the ban and force the government to court with a test case. Now with the government in limbo who knows how long that will take? Months, years?

I'm just back from the Dam, and from what I gathered, that's pretty much it for the weed pass - it's pretty much certain to be stopped.
