greetings micers,
just a quick weed related query for the great minds that frequent this portion of cyberspace - i know there are a few tokers out there, and i would like to ask your opinion / advice on good thai weed in amsterdam?
i for one enjoy thai weed because of it's low strength, therefore i can roll pure joints of it and enjoy them without demon tobacco and without whiteying lol. but, in central / rld related coffeeshops, i've found that the hill street blues does thai, but it's always been brown and a strange texture; almost sweet. mixed with hunter's super king hassan hash however it was an excellent smoke...
so, micers, do any of you have any recommendations on thai weed? or don't you bother at all with it?
best,
Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Katsu usualy has 2-3 Gr deals on both thai and jamaican weed for 10 euros, if i'm not wrong. Anyway, a lot of shops use to store it, but i'm pretty sure that most of the time you'd just get some brick weed (you said brown?), real outdoor well cured is simply a no-no in Netherlands. You may take a look at this site http://www.coffeeshopmenus.org/CoffeeshopMenus.htm#B

Basjoe usually has a good Jamaican High Grade. Anyday has a nice Thai and Jamaican and now even Switzerland.

Wish I could help you out HolyShiteBSE, but yeah, I don't bother with Thai weeds. I've actually got some at the moment here, but to me, it's like getting a small head rush as a 14yr-old kid smoking a cigarette! lol! I obviously tend to go for the more potent weeds (unless specifically advised to try something).
When are you actually back in Amsterdam? It's not too long til I'm back, so if my trip is before yours, I could try out a couple of Thai weeds on your behalf!? You never know, smoking something a little less potent for a day may be good for me! ha ha!
Peace

i'm not back until march/april 2012, so it's more than likely you will get there first! if you love your super strength strains then i agree with you in thinking that thai weed will probably not do it for you. although, what i like to do is roll joints with thai weed in lieu of tobacco, and fill it out with a lovely hash. imo much better than demon tobacco (haha) and not so paralysing as most other Amsterdam weed.
the above posts have opened my eyes a bit to some more variations of Thai / Jamaican / outdoor weed; i can't imagine that they are all bad "brick" weeds. i think trying them is a good idea, it would be nice to hear what a seasoned weed vet thinks of these weeds on offer in the city :D

HolyShitBSE wrote: it would be nice to hear what a seasoned weed vet thinks of these weeds on offer in the city :D Ha ha!! "Seasoned weed vet".......I wouldn't call myself that, I'm sure other micers have plenty more experience than me, but I do try my best.....plus I surely can't be a veteran @ just 28yrs old, can I? lol! Anyway, I'll be back at least once or twice before you are, so I'll try to find some Thai weeds to test out, and report on. I'm not sure where to find Thai weeds other than the two coffeeshops I see mentioned above, i.e. Anyday and Katsu. If anyone else has any ideas where to find some, let me know, because I'll attempt to try a couple of them.......I'll definitely go to Anyday, but Katsu may be out of my path (we'll see). Peace

I went to Rusland Coffeeshop on Friday night (Friday 4th November 2011) and they had Thai on the menu. I didn't take a look at the Thai buds but they may be worth a try?

Ah yes, Rusland coffeeshop......how is the place getting on?? I had some lovely hash from there about 4 years ago, and for some reason never went back!! I'll check it out, certainly more likely to be nearer there than Katsu! lol
Peace

My trip report will follow but I always like Rusland Coffeeshop. It's recently changed owners apparently. I picked up a gram of Crystal. Very old school menu. Thai, Crystal, Powerplant, Cheese etc etc. Cystral was good. Hard hitting and they gave my a nice, shiny, and dense intact top for 8 euros. It was a little too under cured if i'm being picky but it was a great smoke. Smelt the Powerplant too. That looked just as impressive. They are known for their hash but I didn't pick any up :-( Oh, the service was great too (friendly and informative) and a Coffee was only 1 euro 80. It might be worth checking out their Thai...

Aardvark wrote: It's recently changed owners apparently. Yes, you'd be correct about that.....it was for sale not so long ago!! Bloody expensive from what I understand. I'll definitely check in at Rusland! Thanks.

JG....I was sure I noticed it on their menu when we were in there but you put some doubt in my head....anyway had a look on the coffeeshopmenu site and by chance the menu for this shop was updated a few weeks ago and there on the bottom of that menu is indeed Thai weed at €3/gram! I would be inclined to stick it through the grinder and use it as a substitute for tobacco mixed in with a bit of nice stuff! Doc

I wouldn't really fuck with thai weed in dam, it is any generic import from anywhere from Africa to Cambodia and bears no relation to thai stick of days gone by. But I am a pretty big smoker and do anything from 10-14 grams a day of the top stuff whilst in dam...

I think most people who've smoked for a while or who know a little about Cannabis or Cannabis culture would know what Thai actually looks/smells/smokes like so won't be too likely to get ripped off by some poor quality import. Besides, you can always look at it before you buy it and decide whether to buy or not. Thai is so cheap (compared with the majority of other strains in Amsterdam) that if you don't like it and throw it away you won't feel too put out about it!

I never got back to this thread after my trip in December........did try to buy some Thai in a couple of places, but cos the guys knew me, they refused to sell it to me. In or two other shops, it literally looked shite!!
My simple advice - don't bother with Thai weeds!
Peace
