Yes there is a RLD in Haarlem but I haven't been there for about 5 years so I'm not sure how active it is now.

To get to it from the train station start at the end of the station closest to the Amsterdam direction where there is a tunnel (east end, I suppose?). Walk away from the tunnel on Janstraat which is the street going under the tunnel and not the street directly in front of the station. Cross the canal at about .5km and continue on Janstraat until you reach the church on your left, about 2 or 3 blocks from the canal. If you reach the concert hall and have the huge church St. Bavo's in front of you then you've gone too far. Turn left at the smaller church and walk the streets around it. There are about 2 or 3 blocks of scattered windows and also two covered areas. The smaller covered area has about 6 windows. The larger charges a few € for admission and has about 20 windows around a courtyard and a relax room with porn on a big screen. One is called t'Portje and the other is t'Steege, I think altho I don't remember which is which. The last time I was in Haarlem there weren't that many occupied windows but that could've been bad timing on my part.

If you go, please give us a report! Current info about Haarlem is scarce here.

I have been to Haarlem last Saturday evening as I could not get a reasonable priced hotel room in Amsterdam for Saturday night. A very nice and relaxed city which is well worth a visit if you are looking for a good restaurant or a brown bar with a local touch but utterly disappointing as far as the RLD was concerned.

I made my first round about 8.30 p.m. While walking along the "free" windows I saw exactly one girl who was scowling in the window and looked anything but promising. Nearly all the other windows had the curtains open but lacked any inhabitants hence I decided that I was probably to early and gave the court yard with the entrance fee a miss.

After dinner and a walk around town I made a second attempt at about 11.30 p.m. Once again, exactly one girl in the free areas with a lot of dark windows and a locked passage now. At least it was a different girl than before which made for a change but as she was of the Oude Kerk Plein type I was not tempted to enter her kamer. Paid 6 Euros and entered the larger court yard where a lot of empty kamers and three working girls were to be found. All of them were of the average to nice Eastern European type but definitly no stunners. I decided to enter the kamer of a girl from Czechia mainly as she was the only one who was making eye contact instead of playing with the mobile phone. The session was not a rip off as she kept the promises she made during the negotiation but she annoyingly kept asking for more money every few minutes. The price was in the Wallen range, 100 Euros for 30 Minutes and the girl definitly watched the clock and was kind enough to keep me well informed about how "little time" was still left and how much better it would be for all participants if I would pay for another half hour...

Has anyone else had any recent experiences in Haarlem? On my last visit, which was about three years ago the situation was better but still not at all to be compared with the Wallen or the Singel.

a great place for weed//top quality smoke at willie wortels..i have visited the rld 4 or 5 times and the rooms are usually empty..about 30% occupied..prices are the same as the wallen..although you can find extras there like dfk,anal..and its a rip off paying to visit the rld court area only to find 1 or 2 windows open alkmaar and den haag are the hot spots to visit!

leine, may I ask which hotel got your business? I've stayed in both Amadeus and Carrilon hotels on the Grote Markt and I thought they were both OK budget hotels but nothing special.

Hi Laszlo, I stayed in the Joops Hotel. Perfect location, most friendly staff and a nice room.
I would definitly recommend it.

Cheers
