Some news from Utrecht I made two pictures for you yesterday Until 21 august the 26 is not working, so you could only take the "36" if you wanna go to zandpad (same stop : van hornekade)

"strippen kart" cost you 1.60 euros (a cab cost 12 euros) And the "36" departure times :

Or a more easy road to follow : (3.6 kms from centraal station) Quote: Stationstraverse 1. Head northeast on Stationstraverse toward Stationsplein 2. Turn left onto Stationsplein 3. Turn right to stay on Stationsplein 4. Continue onto Smakkelaarsveld 5. Continue onto Vredenburgviaduct 6. Turn left onto Catharijnekade 7. Turn left onto Nieuwekade 8. Turn right toward Amsterdamsestraatweg 9. Continue straight onto Amsterdamsestraatweg 10. Slight right to stay on Amsterdamsestraatweg 11. Slight right to stay on Amsterdamsestraatweg 12. Slight right to stay on Amsterdamsestraatweg 13. Turn right onto Marnixlaan Go through 1 roundabout 14. Turn right to stay on Marnixlaan 15. Turn left to stay on Marnixlaan 16. Turn right Zandpad Utrecht, The Netherlands
But like elgonzo, i think bus is really a better option. ps: elgonzo you didn't start at centraal station

Cool I understand. Surprising most of the hotels are quite expensive might have to book one other side of the train station and hire a bike. Looks nice town and few coffee shop's have caught my eye there.

A couple of months ago 6 boats on the Zandpad were already closed by city council.
Last week the Utrecht mayor announced they will revoke the licenses of the remaining landlords, which means the remaining 98 boats will be closed as well.
The timeframe wasn't really clear, but now rumor has it that it will be next week wednesday.
Maybe the landlords will be able to delay or even stop the procedure by going to court. If not, then you'd better hurry if you want to visit the Zandpad one last time!

Lots of stories, rumors, speculations and conspiracy theories have popped up over the last few weeks, such as:
-The ladies are trying to organize themselves in a cooperation and cut out the landlords -A security company wants to take over the renting of the boats to the ladies -City council wants the real estate for property development, and the human trafficking charges are just an excuse etc., etc.
Time will tell I guess.
The only certain thing right now is that city council has made an official statement that the Zandpad has to be closed by next week thursday (July 25th).
That date looks to be pretty final, so there's a week and a half left, unless of course they come to an agreement or a court rules otherwise before that date.

Well, bad news I'm afraid:
The landlord went to court and the hearing was today, but the judge ruled in favor of city council.
This means that all the windows have to be closed by 9 am tomorrow.
Maybe they'll reopen at a later date with a new landlord (the security company), but for now it looks like the end...
