Rijkswaterstaat to screen off nude beach
16 October 2007
ALMERE – The Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (RWS) will screen off the nudist beach at Hollandsebrug, a bridge, in Almere to ensure that passengers using the temporary ferry cannot see the nudists.
On Tuesday a spokesperson for RWS confirmed the report about the screen in the Telegraaf. The screen is on order. The spokesperson expects the screen to be erected in a few weeks' time.
Although it is not certain that nudists still make use of the beach in the autumn, RWS feels that the screens should be installed all the same. "The ferry is scheduled to be in operation until June 2008," the spokesperson said.
The government agency has up until now not received any complaints about the nude beach situated next to the ferry. It was the RWS’s own decision to put up the screens. The ferry is operational during the repair works that are carried out on the Hollandsebrug.
