The flavor of Den Haag's RLD

I went this evening (a Saturday) and got there around 8pm as the sun set, so I was expecting some big bustle on Geleenstraat . But there wasn't, really. At any given time, ten to thirty men wandered the rather wide expanse rather leisurely -- you can certainly get a leisurely look at these women from across the street while you wander, but it's probably best to go right up to them.

I was looking for a couple of things. Kissing is one: I find it much harder to stay in the groove if there's no kissing allowed. Sucking and massaging boobies is another similar thing. These are much more readily available in Geleenstraat than in De Walletjes, where the only time I've gotten to suck on a girl's nipples, it was under the condition that I pay 20 extra euros.

These things are more or less to be expected in Den Haag, which is very nice. Make sure you ask about it first, but everyone I asked seemed to act like a girlfriend-like experience was to be expected. My rendezvous was with a Thai gal who called herself Joy, and cost 50 euros (plus, I added a 20 euro tip because I wouldn't be surprised if I took an hour's time or so), It included 69, mish, doggy, cowboy (both directions), french kissing and full-body contact throughout -- and basically, anything I wanted except for titty-fucking and bbhj/bbbj. (I'm not an anal connoisseur, really, so I didn't ask.)

If you don't like to kiss smokers and kissing is a priority, then you've basically halved your options or so. Look for the cigarette evidence first, if you're of that persuasion. The next thing to do is probably to find out whether they speak decent English. For the Thai girl, even something as simple as "ride me" took a bit of effort to communicate.

There are 2-5 girls who take the windows on the second floor, as contrasted with the 10-20 girls on the street. This is very unfortunate, as these girls are potentially rather good looking, but you can't see them, what with the glare of the sky ever-present.

Most of the guys there weren't chatting up any girls, and were just milling about, presumably making their decision entirely on what a person looks like through a glass pane from the other side of a very wide street. That's stupid. If you see a girl who's even a "maybe," try to talk to her! It not only gives you a chance to see better what she looks like, it also shows you what her window seat smells like (is she a smoker or perfumed?), as well as what she'll sound like if/when she's talking dirty to you. Important stuff!

On the whole, it's nowhere near as groovy as De Walletjes, and is far more like the Singel streets. But the girls are still relatively young and perky. No drug-dealer* types tried to sell me viagra or cialis. Nor did anyone look like the pickpocket type -- though a lot of people looked like very nervous tourists, what with their hands in their pockets and their shoulders hunched over and the like.

*(Two years ago, in de Walletjes, I was tired and sat on the railings by the Oude Kerk. Big mistake. Oh, the ladies understood a simple "stop-sign" hand gesture as a simple, "I'm not interested," and stopped tapping the windows at me -- great. But one drug-pusher literally chased me for a block, yelling at the back of my head how he had the ecstasy and meth and other maybe-illegal-in-Amsterdam narcotics that I was supposedly looking for. I never even spoke a word to him; I just walked away from the start. I think he was trying to embarrass me into dealing with him, by shouting these lies loud enough so that the whole canal's interest was piqued; but how stupid is that?)

There are many benefits to Gelenstraat and Hunsestraat, mainly in the form of not being jostled by crowds, no boozy Brit/ Irish stag parties etc etc.

The atmosphere is obviously different - being less charged than De Wallen, and on a wet afternoon (always seems to be raining when I've gone there) I feel it can be rather dispiriting. I've been suprised by the amount of choice in early afternoon though, when most of the windows have been filled with a decent selection of ladies.

I plan to pay a visit on my return in a few weeks. Will try the Doeblestraat area again. I've walked round before but all I ended up feeling was a little scared. Bound to be diamond punt buried in there though.....
