Right guys, as you know, I'm relatively new to the Alkmaar scene.....only been to the town twice. I'm planning a trip to the Dam in the near future, and am considering spending a day/night in Alkmaar and probably stay down there over night, just so I don't need to worry about missing the last train, etc.... Done a couple of searches about hotels in Alkmaar on here, but the most recent one was about a hotel shutting down (back in May '10), so anyone got any newer info re: Hotels??

Basically I'm looking for help about hotels - what hotels are good/ok/great:
I'm currently finding 33 hotels (3x 2*, 16x 3*, 14x 4*) in/around Alkmaar on hotels.nl.
There seems to be 5 hotels in a location between the station and the Achterdam.
I'm sort of swaying towards the Hotel Alkmaer for some reason..........anyone stayed here before?

Or do you just reckon I should just get to Alkmaar early and catch whatever the last train is, and get back to the Dam?

Cheers guys!

Peace

Hi JGramos,
The hotel Stad En Land opposite the railway station would be the cheapest option(67.50 Euros per night) but the best one i would suggest for close proximty to the RLD would be the Hotel Pakhuys(75.00+Euros)
A stones throw from pleasureable activities, main bars, museums (cheese & Beer) and food eateries etc. Adult shop when you turn right at the end of the street, that hotel is based in going towards (main Square) Lefthand side of the street.
Hope this is of some help to you Jgramos.
yours sincerely
Lionel

lionel - yes, thank you, much appreciated!! That is actually one of the five hotels I've been looking at. To be honest, proximity to Achterdam is more important than being near to the train station.
Have you stayed there? The rooms look pretty nice from their photos....are the pictures fairly accurate, or well "photoshopped"??

Peace

I knew you'd be back, JG.
FWIW, Lionel's recomendation looks great from the outside and is a great location.
Other than that, I can't help as I tend (and prefer) to take a train back to Amsterdam.

JG, I always prefer to return to the Dam.
As much as I like wandering around Alkmaar during the day for reasons other then the RLD, I find that I can get there early afternoon, have my fill of the city & the ladies and return to AMS on the 2nd or 3rd last train. This gives me plenty of time to return to the Wallen should I not be sated by what's on offer in Alkmaar. As you've been to Alkmaar before, you'll know whether the quality & quantity on offer is enough to keep you there beyond the last train. Remember of course that if you've booked into a hotel and only find a couple of girls that take your fancy, then you are stuck there till the following day. As I have never been in the Alkmaar RLD late evening/early morning perhaps I'm missing something. However, based on others reporting and what I've heard from the girls, I doubt it. I guess for me it's just too close to the Dam to warrant an overnight stay. I certainly understand the lure of something new, but I guess I’d opt for a further flung RLD if I was considering an overnight stay out of AMS.
If you choose to stay make sure you take note of any changes/improvements that those of us who run back to the Dam are missing out on.
Have fun.

Hi JGramos,
i have actually stayed at this hotel in one of the single rooms, perhaps not the biggst of rooms but couldn't complain about the facilities, if breakfast included in the price it's continental and was served in the hotel reception room. As far as i know i visited a club not far from the trainstation,Club26 but could not gain access, maybe it was closed but the club has hostesse's and bar area for customers, perhaps professer Wim might know if it is still open?
Okay there may not be the same a mount of activities as Amsterdam, but the people are great to get along with, most of the bars have dart boards, so take some arrows with you and not just the one in your pants, to see if you can hit 180?

Cheers Danny, Shinken and Lionel with your help/info/views.

My decision is hanging in the balance at the moment! I really fancy just having a day/night out of the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam, and whenever I’ve stayed in other Dutch towns/cities I’ve had great times!! However, I’m starting to feel like I may be able to get everything I want out of a daytrip to Alkmaar and just catch the last train back to Amsterdam (which by the looks of it, is the 00:16 arriving in Amsterdam @ 01:18).

Shinken - I believe you are probably right about not missing much in the early morning, from what I’ve been told (and experienced) there’s no shift time, the girls pay for the kamer for the whole day & night, and just show up to work at whatever time they want to and finish when they want as well. So, if you’ve been there at say 9pm, there wouldn’t be much change by midnight others than those finishing for the night. I also understand some girls will work a number of hours in the early afternoon, disappear for a few hours, then come back to work later in the evening. I suppose it’s all about when each girl thinks they can get the best custom.

Lionel - I probably wouldn’t go to the club even if it was open, sorry, just not my cup of tea (at the moment anyway). I’ve done a bit more research about that hotel, rooms look ok – prices are fair – location is cracking......if I decide to stay in Alkmaar, I think it’ll be the Hotel Pakhuys.

Cheers again guys.

If anyone else has any info to add to what others have already said, or perhaps sway my decision, please tell me.

Peace

Alkmaar is well worth staying over for at least one night. Great city to hang out in, meet the locals (De Brug, De Notaris, Muizenvegrad) and many other interesting side alleys and spots to visit. Rent a bike and ride around,,stop for a beer, a smoke, your favorite Achterdam sweetie, enjoy a slow paced evening drinking with the locals, up early to watch Laangastraat come to life on a saturday..very nice!

I would have said the same but for my last trip to Alkmaar. JG was there too so I'm sure he remembers. IMO, the line-up late on a Saturday night (and earlier, when we arrived) was outstanding... girls were hotter than what de Wallen had to offer during the same time period. We were there until after the last train I think. JG, if you think I'm talking out my arse please say so, but that's my honest memory of my last trip to Alkmaar. Of course, meeting Simona that night helped...

Can't offer any experiences on staying overnight but I think I'd probably do it on a future trip, and probably on the first night of a trip so that I wouldn't have to completely unpack (yeah, I'm lazy)... just thinking I'd hate being settled into a room for a few days, and then having to pack all my shit up at least twice (once to go to the new hotel, once to go to the airport).

420 - lovely photos!

420 - cheers for the photos.....looks great!! They've sort of got me thinking that it'd be far nicer to go in the summer time, maybe for a couple of days, when the weather's nice and you can sit outside, rather than go in Feb/Mar!! Thanks, i think the photos may have made my mind up!! :-)

Bluto - No mate, you're not talking out of your arse! ha ha!!! Spot on in fact, the line up on that Saturday was fantastic, and I personally would've probably had more choice in Alkmaar than back in the Dam that night!! But, that Saturday was amazing, and as we know, 3 girls that were there then have all moved up to Amsterdam now (and would've probably been top of my list that night in Alkmaar)! lol!!
By the sounds of it, Shinken has been in Alkmaar until early evening, and the lineup seemed to be as good when we arrived as when we left, so he probably didn't miss out on much when he was there.

"probably on the first night of a trip so that I wouldn't have to completely unpack (yeah, I'm lazy)... just thinking I'd hate being settled into a room for a few days, and then having to pack all my shit up at least twice (once to go to the new hotel, once to go to the airport)."

Ha ha!! You know I'm lazy too mate!! I think, after seeing 420's photos, I may plan a 2 night trip in the middle of the summer, and just get on a train to Alkmaar from the airport and stay there for both nights.....we'll see.

Thanks to everyone again for all the help!

Peace

Another option is Hotel Te Laat on Laat street in Alkmaar. Its closer to the Achterdam and the Cheese Market than Stad En Land. Their cheapest room is 55 Euros, but looks to require a 3 night minimum stay. A bit nicer room is 70 Euros there. I liked the view of the city from windows. Stad En Land is nice and basic. Very cooperative and accomdating staff there. You could rent a bike and cruise back and forth between Stad En Land and the Achterdam area (or its a 15 min walk). Its located on a main road, but I didn't find it too noisy at night. The only downside to staying in Alkmaar is that pretty much everthing shuts down earlier than Amsterdam. If you fancy a late night scene, there isn't much to do. If the weather is decent, you could take a 25 or so minute bus ride to the beach (Egmond aan Zee) and enjoy the sights with a joint in hand.

Hi JGramos,
the hotel Te Laat is the one which closed last year, so i don't think it has re-opened, i wish i was back in Alkmaar, if you do go there, you might be lucky to meet up with the beautiful Nicole, one hot sexy Milf, i think she splits her time between Utrecht and Alkmaar but what a woman!!

Hi JG

I'll throw in my 2 cents since I was there last week for the first time....

I think that the day trip would be the best option for you

I took the train one night with Wim

I found a girl ( just my type )
Anita ( Bulgarian ) 5ft 7 125 lbs F cup enhanced

BBBJ/ DATY/ COB

20 minutes-50 Euro

I went to the Brug with Wim to celebrate, as he did his chica... ( Cissi )
( That's where we sms'd poor 420, to tease him about where we were )

I went back the next day to find her again @ 15 :00
She wasn't there I saw Cissi for a second, but by the time I came back, she was busy

Our friend Danny tipped me off to a blonde spinner

I did a 30 minute session with her

Kissing/ DATY/ BBBJ/CIM 80 Euro

I couldn't find another to do round 2 with as it was between 5-6:30....
( Plus I'm picky )

I went back on the train for day 3, at exactly 15:00, and there was Anita again

Same menu as day 1, but 30 minutes @ 70 E

Porn star visuals to finish

I was going to do round 2, but got a message that Tall Jennifer was waiting for me, so I went back to meet her on Dolle

I liked the place, but it is winter, and there's not a whole lot to do...

I smoked myself silly at the Brug ( really like the bar )

Danny told me ' get there before they close the windows “

Thanks to my 2 coaches- Danny and Wim for making this a successful trip

As I told Wim on the train, even though we didn't do Golden Time, this was sort of half Golden Time

I can't see my friend JG as an avid bicycle rider....

Best Regards

Cheers Smuler!!! Sounds like you got the bug for Alkmaar in the afternoon then!! ha ha!

"I think that the day trip would be the best option for you"

I'm coming round to that way of thinking for the time being, while the weather isn't all too great......but in the summer, I think it could be a great place to be for a few nights!

"I found a girl ( just my type ), Anita ( Bulgarian ) 5ft 7 125 lbs F cup enhanced, BBBJ/ DATY/ COB, 20 minutes-50 Euro"

Someone was in heaven! ;-) F-cup, yowzer!! lol

"as he did his chica... ( Cissi )"

Yeah, pretty sure I know who she is, if it's the same girl that Danny told me to keep an eye out for.

"Our friend Danny tipped me off to a blonde spinner...I did a 30 minute session with her...Kissing/ DATY/ BBBJ/CIM 80 Euro"

He certainly knows his stuff, especially Alkmaar!! Danny, was she on the list you gave me a while back, or a new one??

"I was going to do round 2, but got a message that Tall Jennifer was waiting for me, so I went back to meet her on Dolle"

Ooooh, you bastard and lucky guy at the same time......Jennifer was working 3 days during my last trip, I only spotted her once for a split second but was only just out of Katie's and in a rush somewhere, so couldn't stop!! :-(

"I smoked myself silly at the Brug ( really like the bar )"

I love it too, nice atmosphere, smoke and drink as you please! Happy days!

"I can't see my friend JG as an avid bicycle rider...."

Au Contraire Smuler......I've been known for riding a bike in Holland, just not in Amsterdam, so a bike in Alkmaar would be a possibility! ;-) Amsterdam is too busy with cars, trams, bikes, pedestrians.......whereas somewhere like Alkmaar would be fine.

Cheers once again!

Peace

Hey JG

Anita made my Nathalie look flat...haha

PS- she's 19

OUCH....

Jennifer was a nice girl, but I couldn't even pop a chubby, as I was kaput !!!

I spent a nice time giving her an oil massage, and a little Xmas present for her

We spent time discussing her future in the real world....

Good luck to her..she's real pretty, and a pleasure filled young lady

If you're around in May, we'll do some riding

Best Regards

HC,

This was 2 years ago but even with inflation or deflation it should be close to 1.50E @ the Liquor store next to Te Laat on Laatstraat.

In the US, Chimay Blue would be $4.50 at a good liquor store. $8 up at a Bar, if you could find a small bottle.

When I stayed overnight in Alkmaar I stayed in the Amrath Hotel. I think that it was around 40 to 50 euros per night. It was a modern "Holiday Inn" type hotel - no complaints. It was the opposite side of the town to the station (which meant that it was closer to the RLD).
I stayed there on a Saturday night, the next morning I went down for breakfast and it struck me how many couples in their 30's to 40's stayed there the night. I later found out that there is a swingers club nearby, so I don't if it was the hotel of choice for those visiting the club, or just coincidence that so many in their 30's to 40's were staying there.
