Wim told me quite a number of the girls who were in Utrecht have been appearing around Amsterdam over the last few months. So anyone who had a special girl in Utrecht may well be able to find her in Amsterdam.

Holy Shit.
Two years ago when I was there,
they were spending a fortune FIXING THE BOATS!
Workmen were everywhere, clearly enjoying the views.
Now they decide to shut them down?
Brilliant.
Is the mayor of Utrecht auditioning for a spot in the Obama administration?

Obama is as close to a pragmatist as you are likely to find in D.C. And Dutch "tolerance" is all about putting pragmatism over ideology. The closures in Utrecht are the opposite of pragmatism. Obama is the opposite of being an ideologue.

There must be something wrong with my dictionary.
I swear the picture next to "ideologue" is my former State Senator.

I must apologize. I had a visceral response to the whole scenario.
Using tax money to remodel the boats, followed by spending even more tax money to move or dismantle them is, in fact, brilliant public policy.
This allows for the counting of at least two jobs saved (one to remodel, another to move),
stimulates the economy with the purchase of construction supplies,
and fills campaign warchests through forced contributions from union workers.
"Shovel Ready" economic stimulus of the first order.
The architect of this plan is clearly a genius.
Does this remind anyone of another politician?
Anyone?

If they are seriously concerned about trafficking, would it not make sense to place the ownership of the boats in the hands of a workers Trade Union and then have them administer them? Could also mean reduced rents for the working woman and with a collective of workers involved, then the idea of pimping or trafficking, or exploitative rent price which kind of acts as a way of taking substantial amounts from the workers, would be impossible.

I've heard it's all closed :-( . Hardebollenstraat was better than Zandpad imho . Strange statement I know but I preferred the black ladies and had a great time with an absolutely beautiful girl. Loved it . Shame on the man or men or woman or women who made this decision. What's happening in Holland ? Are they following g the Swedish idea? I.e. fine and prosecute the customer.

They are supposed to create a new RLD but this is as close to recent news as I've found...from mid Feb...

"Also in Utrecht the prostitution area was closed down. But five months after the houseboats where the prostitutes were based in lost their licences, the Utrecht city council has agreed to a new location. The city was concerned about the possibility that women were being forced to work and that there was some human trafficking going on. This was a big deal for the city, as there were many arguments for both sides. Ultimately, the city closed down the entire area and the women were either out of work or they went to other cities. But now the city stated they will create a new prostitution district with 162 prostitution windows elsewhere in Utrecht. This new area will be known by the creative and original name: The Prostitute Centre. The city now requires that all prostitutes must be at least 21 years of age."

Sounds like work on the new RLD is about to begin, and it will be near the original canal location with the same number of windows. But some of the locals are not happy about it.

This site seems to have a lot of information about the process of restoring an RLD of sorts in Utrecht. Unfortunately I've not had time yet to decipher this using machine translation. Perhaps someone here can figure out what is being said better than I, but it seems the new location will be near the old one, but may not be in business until 2016. Some of the locals also have complaints.

Anyone?

Restoration of a Utrecht window prostitution facility seems to be further delayed.

"Utrecht is in the spring of 2017 again have sex windows, Van Zanen writes. That come in containers near the Zandpad. The municipality wanted to do rather have around but could not find an investor.

Thus, already experienced so many delays, that it is no longer a temporary location for window prostitutes to organize.

Permission

If everything now runs as expected, the end of next year permission be given for the construction of a new prostitution zone. Which is more than a year later finished.

The municipality has already taken into account in this planning session with an objection to the Council of State. There has yet to be found an investor, but the college has a new plan that is still secret before.

Inte Vreden

College Green Left Party is dissatisfied with the letter. "It's all too slow, the college does not emit urgency. All sex workers will soon disappear from our radar. "

Some interesting updates re: Utrecht

Apparently the plan for a new RLD opening in 2017 is still on, and they are looking for investors and others to help with the planning. (I've volunteered to be a quality control inspector.)

http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2 ... -managers/

A question of interpretation, but prostitution arrests are up, but claimed *not* related to Zandpad closing:

http://www.utrechtcentral.com/featured/ ... cht-77714/

"The closure of the Zandpad red light district in Utrecht was a hasty and poorly thought-out decision that led to the victimization of hundreds of prostitutes, according to a report by the Center for Information & Research on Organized Crime (Ciroc)"

http://www.nltimes.nl/2015/06/03/study- ... x-workers/

Making home prostitution illegal was apparently considered, but not implemented (?)
