I had two lovely Saturday night strolls in Alkmaar on my recent trip

It is hard for me to believe that anyone could live in Amsterdam and not take advantage of all the natural beauty and thrills of the local RLD's, but I have to admit that Saturday night in the Wallen can be a painful trudge, with all the tourists, crowding and gawking. The number of rip-off artists has exploded in the last few years, and most of my favorite regualrs have long retired.
The good news is that the escort scene is exploding, and there are plenty of alternatives. Adapt and evolve, or be left in the ash bin of history.
Alkmaar was always been one of my favorite little dutch towns. The cheese market on Saturday is fun to see, the beer and cheese museums are a hoot, and the central square is one of the pretiest I have ever seen. Amsterdam without neon or tourists, as the infamous PeachFuzz used to say.
Then there is the Achterdam.
A single long street with a few side passages, it is the starting location for lots of girls that ultimately end up in Amsterdam, at much higher prices, with much lower service. Why wait?
Meet them in Alkmaar now, and experience service and beauty for a very reasonable price.
It reminds me of the way Amsterdam was in the good old Guilder days.
For those of you that remember the golden days of the Achterdam, I am sad to report that the number of rooms has been cut in half. The first and third passages are now permanently closed. The good news is that almost every available room is occupied. Day shift has picked up, and nights are near full capacity. Night shift starts between 7 and 8, but many of the best girls close down by 11PM. I would make sure not to arrive too late in the evening. The last train back to Amsterdam is about midnight, and by then, things pickings get sparse.

The restraunts on the square are magnificent, and well worth a stop before or after the girls, and there are enough interesting things in town to make a day of it. We stopped in a very loud but interesting bar on the square on the second night, but I can't for the life of me remember the name.
WIm was kind enough to drive us all back to Amsterdam in the Wimrocket, where we had a chance to talk about ships and canals, and his recent vacations. We also had a laugh about American Presidential elections, where I introduced them to the concept of a "dumpster fire"--Loud, bright, exciting with lights and sirens, followed by a greasy, black stinking stain on the ground that lasts for years. Yup. That about sums it up.
