Anyone ever heard of this place? Good? Bad?

http://www.pakhuys.nl/

I am always looking for different accomodations that are well located, they have a bar and food onsite, and wifi access. Looks nice, but they do not have any pictures of the rooms.

Thank you.

hi simpleyjim,
i was in Alkmaar last week and this hotel is centrally located near the beer museum and two minutes walk to the RLD,looks a bit pricey from the outside with a superior look of facilities inside.

For anyone who is driving a car, and not planning to take advantage of intoxicating substances, it's worth remembering that Van der Valk's Akersloot motel is just 7 or 8 kms south of Alkmaar on the A9 motorway. They have around 200 rooms. A room costs 70 Euros, plus 10 Euros for breakfast. It's about 3 star standard but the rooms are enormous compared with most other hotels in NL. The restaurants in VdV hotels are very good too.

Last time I was in Alkmaar (a day trip from Haarlem, where I was staying), I stopped by this place for a beer and picked up their business card:

http://www.stadenland.com/

At €52.50 for a single room, you'd be hard pressed to find better than that. It's near the station, obviously given the address (Stationsweg 92-94), about 15 - 20 mins walk from the City Centre / Achterdam / Biermuseum. You can save a few Euros by booking through hotels.nl who don't charge a fee (I've booked through them before elsewhere):

The only thing, it is above a bar so it may well be noisy. If anyone does try it out, please leave a report.

Alkmaar is a great place. You can sit outside on the terrace of the Biermuseum by the canal and watch the world go by and you are only a minute's stroll from the Achterdam.

Cheers

ive stayed at stad en land about 6 times, maybe more, in the past 4 years. have never known the rooms to be noisy at all, especially if you get the wonderful attic room which sleeps 3-4 people. i once had the great fortune to be staying there 2 days before xmas while it snowed heavily outside - great memories.

i notice the prices have gone up a bit - it was 40, then 45 now 52 a night. still great value and porn channel on the tv too. fred can probably even tell you which room number it is that has the broken TV with permanent free porn. i forget.

doog!

Maybe simplyjim has already booked somewhere in Alkmaar, but anyway Withnail, thanks for the info. I may stay in Stad en Land on my next visit to Holland. So far I've only visited Alkmaar during the day. €50 is still great value anywhere in the Netherlands for a single room ensuite.
