I am currently on a 7 day Bike Boat Tour from Amsterdam to Bruges with stops in Southern NL Dordeft, Willemstad and today we are in Antwerp. I took a walk to the Historic Center for a Saturday evening Festival and my Google Maps took e directly through the main Antwerp RLD. All I can say is wow!..What a surprise after seeing a desolate and boarded up Amsterdam RLD. There must have been at least 150 windows occupied up down the main street and the inter courtyards of a large covered areas.

What a nice surprise. Very clean,,,well lit,,good looking workers in general.

thanks for the report! I hope you are having fun! so you would say most windows are occupied and there are planty of guys walking around? might be the first positive report so far post corona...

looks like photos are from summer? t-shirts etc.. or is it that warm in belgium right now?

yes Antwerpen is def a winner.
its built like a plaza for those who's never been there.
if Amsterdam is about to move out of De Wallen I think Antwerpen is the alternative to be inspired of.
walking distance out of town. bars are located just outside (100m) of the RLD instead of within the RLD etc etc.

clean and good looking. Villa Tinto looks more like a mall than a regular RLD etc...

Wowsers - 150 occupied windows! De Wallen in 2020 (i.e. just before covid) might not have had many more windows than that during the night shifts (day shifts definitely had far less).

Antwerp will have to be explored!

It is 20c and very sunny, evenings are 17-18c and sunny. So T-shirts understandable.

Thanks for the report. As suspected. The wgs are back for business. Now really would be a good time to check out rlds. They'd possibly be loads of new ones looking to make some money after the worldwide pandemic.

Was all the windows in Vila Tinto occupied? Many milfs? Many Latinos?

Other cities with rlds in Belgium that I've visited are Oostende, Brussels, Seraing and Ghent. There's some others too.

The Vila Tint appeared to be fairly full,,I would day 75% +-. Pretty decent selection,,did not look to close at any "MLF" types but did notice a wide selection in all different sizes and colors. Really well lit and clean compared to AMS. Belgium in general was very clean in every town I have been through on my Bike Boat Tour from AMS to Kinderkijk, Antwerp, Ghent, and Bruge.

I would say the nicest area is the Historic plaza around the old Cathedral . Its a 12-17min walk from RLD.

Last time I was there, I got a place on Airbnb.
Look for the Red Star apartment.
Nice 1 bedroom apartment with underground parking under 100Euro.
about 1km nnorth of Villa TInto, 2km north of City Hall.

If you plan a visit to Antwerp soon, as of today you need proof of vaccination/recovery/negative test at indoor restaurants and cafe's.

https://www.brusselstimes.com/belgium/1 ... fe-ticket/
https://www.info-coronavirus.be/en/

So check if you have the right certificates.
