I experimented driving across England. Norfolk ferry lines to Dunkerque. The plan was Golden time and then World domination.

Forget the latter; I am just too old to drive across Europe. The former was hard enough. The Customs man in Blighty (Prick In High Viz Jacket) was all for giving me the hard time, and I thought that was reserved for the foreigners coming into the UK. Here is the conversation; PIHVJ: “Where are you going to Michael?” .Me: “Dusseldorf”. PIHVJ: “What is the purpose of your visit?” (Don’t you just hate stupid invasive questions from Pricks In High-Viz Jackets?). Me:“I am going to visit friends”. PIHVJ:”YOU’VE got friends in Dusseldorf?” (How insulting is that?), Me: “I’ve got lots of friends there, Agata, Mia, Roxanna, Sonya, Maria, Tanya, Tatilyana, Svetlana, lots of friends”. PIHVJ: :-O …Gives passport back. Ah well, glad to see England is safe with highly paid professionals like that protecting our borders.

Anyway, gripe over with, following my reassessment of the time taken to drive round the low countries, I changed the plan to accommodate a quick visit to Ritz Clubbing in Mol in Belgium. But to cut a long story short that didn’t happen either. Bank Holiday and Belgium was shut. No Petrol Stations, The auto pay machines would not accept my car, no maps, nobody on the streets to ask for directions and to cap it all my Sat Nav refused to accept the existence of Mol in Belgium. One very pissed off Wim later, who was very kind to go look for a map of Flanders Fair Fields; despite having to go to the Hospital with his family, sort of drove it home I was onto a looser here. It was time to make for home before I began to grow a big red “L” for looser on my forehead Enough said about that little disaster, I will concentrate solely now on the girl reports for you girl-spotters.

Thanks Gaston. I found the N17 and did actually find Mol. but to do what you asked would have required a human being to ask. But your fair land of cheese and fine quisine was closed on Monday :(

I think that St. Jozephslan is probably listed under a different town though, called Wezel, which is where the Tom Tom went wrong.

Wezel it is indeed. The St. Jozelfslaan is parallel to the N71. If you had driven through Mol, one of the next exits would have been 'Wezel'. Turn right, turn right again after half a mile and you would have been there.

Maybe the Ritz website should have better driving instructions. ... 'and for our UK friends, especially the one with the TomTom he can't use properly'..... (sorry, can't resist this, I swear by maps. ViaMichelin is wonderfull, though)

Reminds me of the time I tried to get back into the UK and I was searched (as was my car) because they thought it suspicious that I had no alcohol. Have you ever tried to prove to somebody that you went abroad for purposes other than to get pissed and bring a shedload of beer back. (Of course if you bring back more than they want they take your car away and scrap it - only the European Court stopped them doing that to ordinarypeople)

The only way to remain innocent is to join the Party and hail Blair (or whoever the latest master is). I expect "they" read this forum so I will antidote myself against further vitriol
