I thought it appropriate to withhold this post until I had something worth posting. So, to celebrate my 1000th post with a trip to Golden Time, which I also saved up for, seemed most appropriate. Almost 12 months ago to the day I was introduced to a Sauna club called Goldentime by Wim on a daytrip from Amsterdam, this year I returned on my own. A friend of mine wanted to go to the Dutch MotoGP in Essen and offered me a lift if I paid the ferry and shared the driving form the North West of England. An offer like that could scarcely be refused.

We set off from near Manchester at 8 O’clock, got the 4 am fery, and I got to GT at 11:30 in lovely weather, albeit a bit tired. Despite the unwelcome attentions of the German Border control, who were almost (but not quite) as tiresome as the “Pihvj”, pricks in high viz jackets (again) in Dover, we arrived safely in NRW. The idiots in Dover just love two Englishmen travelling together as obvious drug smugglers. Well, I am confident my taxes are being well spent keeping our nation safe. (What’s a grand prix? Says Mrs Pihvj. Is it some kind of race?) Never mind.

As reported, the gardens are great, the new raised platform is cool, the new TV tent is fantastic, could be more outdoor tents perhaps, and the new fruit-beers are most refreshing. I spent the first part of the morning waiting for Ciallis to kick in and getting some strength back, and comparing things to my last visit.

Just like last year at this time, early mornings on sunny GT days are mellow. Too damned mellow for my taste. The Girls definitely want to hang around and not work, sunning themselves and sticking in close-knit groups talking and smoking themselves to death, making it hard to break in. At this time as well, almost all the Girls seemed German-only speaking, which doesn’t bother me, in fact no-English sessions are sometimes the best, but sometimes it bothers them as they see it as hard work. The Bulgarian and Polish contingents seemed missing somehow. Maybe it was recent Razzia for the World Cup, who knows. One thing is certain, it was just like last year, but with less Eastern Europeans.

Ah GT, what a place. As much as I'd like to venture into new grounds, I'm always drawn back to GT, my favorite place of all. I'll be heading over not soon enough, probably mid August with hopes that the Pmob or at least a few of its members are present. I hope to spend a few nights in Mokum and maybe venture up to the almighty Achterdam. The Hague is always a safe choice as well. There is not a day that goes by that I'm not thinking of GT and the most excellent times I've spent there, both alone and with friends.
