This is for the guys who tend to stay in Amsterdam for more than just a couple of days.

My next trip is going to be with three friends for ten days. Sharing a room isn't going to be an issue, but sharing beds was high on the list of things to NOT do while on vacation.

So... looking for anyone's experience with a little nicer apartment.

- Four rooms would be great but four beds is a must...
- Two full baths would make life easier trying to get going in the morning
- to keep the amount of luggage to a minimum, I usually do laundry at a family members house part way through. But staying in an apartment with laundry would help.

Of course things like location, view, etc...

...

I have been looking through the posts and many of the apartments just don't seem to be what four men in their 40's and 50's are looking for.

I have been looking through vacation rentals by owner (VRBO) and found some that are very promising and within our budget. Hoping that someone on here might have a recommendation.

...

Went to a St. Patrick's party yesterday and the other three guys were there as well. We were chatting about our upcoming vacation and pretty soon we had a group of other guys around us all wishing they were going.

They are not cheap, but DeLastage apartments are nice, from my experience.

Eric

2 questions

1. Budget per night

2. If the place is a couple tram stops away, do you care ? You open to biking/tramming it in ?

Best Regards

Smuler,

The couple of times that I've spent money on hotels it has been in the $100/night range or less. I would think that splitting an apartment four ways would get us a decent place and for less than $100/night/person. But I could be wrong...

A little hoofing/tram riding shouldn't bother anyone. Especially if the neighborhood it's in has a little flavor to it.

Sometimes it pays to throw in a couple bucks more..

This is the closest that I could come with your specs..

It says 3 bedrooms ?

I've stayed in the Bed & Breakfast rooms but not the Apts, but the host was awesome and the location excellent.

Thanks for the input guys.

I hadn't found that AIRBNB website yet.

...

Hopefully will have all the information needed to get the airfare purchased in the next day or two. I was a little nervous at first about being in charge of pulling a trip together for four people. But, I'm starting to get into all the planning and such!

Leidseplein Penthouse is one of the nicest places I have stayed at. It's occupies the top floor of the Bulldog building in Leidseplein, views are incredible. 2 separate bedrooms, 2 loft bedrooms, huge living room and kitchen. I stayed there twice and we had a group of six so was approx 80 EUR each per night. Heres a link:

http://www.stayamsterdam.com/apartment- ... aptid=1572

Also I recommend stayamsterdam.com, they are a legit company and you can find many nice apts available for rent. Good luck. I strongly prefer the apt over a hotel if the option is possible. I now stay at the Krasnapolsky apartments in the back of the hotel. You can possibly get (2) 1 bedroom apartments and have 2 twin beds in the bedroom to accomodate your group of 4, prices range from 140-180eur per night, so that is another option to consider, those apts are beautiful as well

Thanks AC. I've found that apartment listed on another sight and have definitely considered it.

Confirmed dates last night, have reservations made with the travel agent (neighbor) and going to start pinning down a place to stay very soon.

Shame that September is so far away!!

Chris,

The price was pretty close ... having trouble finding that other webpage back now.

The overall price is a little outside what I was budgeting. But if the place is really nice it would be worth it I think.

Going to present it to them and see what they think.

definitely getting some uncertainty for that penthouse rental. Looks like I'm going to look for something less.

Stayamsterdam.com is showing that would break down to $170 to $180/night/person after taxes/fees and exchange rates.

Please stop telling people about Airbnb. It's going to become too big and popular; then, like everything else, it will suck.
