Any suggestions for OK hotel in De Pijp area?

I'm considering staying closer to the Park 118 area during my next visit in autumn. The Ibis is a bit above my budget and the very convenient Hotel Allborg seems very basic and overpriced at $100/night for a closet-sized room.

Any suggestions for a basic, safe hotel with a private bath in that general area?

Also, can escorts be barred from visiting hotels? I've contacted some hotels about their escort policy, and some, like Hotel Avenue, have a no-escort policy. Others say if the girl is not gone in an hour, my credit card will be debited as a double room. Is this legal in a city with legal escorts?

Dank u well . . .

I don't think it has anything to do with her being an escort. If you are using a single room for two people then expect to pay double room rates. Otherwise a friend or 2 could bunk down on the floor and get a free stay at the hotel. Hotel Vijaya doesn't allow guests into rooms at all. Unless they made some rule like "no blacks" they can do as they please regarding guests.

Good points. However, in some cases I expressed willingness to book a double (in some cases, especially on expedia, the prices can be very similar), but still a no-escort policy is expressed. I guess it's a reputation/morality thing, which I can understand if one wants to appeal to a "family" type of crowd.

I really stumped on De Pijp. Wonder if any budget hotels in Museumplein or the South are walkable to the area. Any suggestions appreciated.

Yet another reason I like staying at the Amrath. They don't seem to give a fuck about escorts, and even if they did, there's so many people coming and going because of the bar and restaurant inside, they'd never even notice her coming in.

It's probably going to be over budget, but I stayed in the NH Museum Quarter in January. You can see the De Pijp windows from outside the hotel if I remember correctly. Not sure on escort policy...

Thanks for all the feedback. I settled for a hotel in the Museumplein area called Piet Hein. Very, very basic, but slightly larger than some of the other hotels for a small single room.
It's main selling point was that it was in a nice area, a km from Park 118, and trams in the general area that lead both to De Pijp and Centraal Station.
Now I hope I can locate a few decent coffee shops in the area and some cheap places to eat.
I didn't ask about their escort policy. With 81 rooms and an emphasis on "business," these owners would be idiots to ban escorts. And if so, I'll just do Park 118.

I think most of the larger hotels and chain hotels that cater for the average business traveller and tourists are fairly escort-friendly. It's not uncommon to find a free magazine in a hotel room which has escort ads in the back!

Sometimes there are rules to do with "visitors in rooms" and the official policy in some places might be that all visitors must sign-in with reception on arrival. I've seen (extremely fuckable) escorts at hotel receptions showing ID to the desk, presumably the reception then phone the room and check they are expecting a visitor. Apart from a snooty attitude I don't think this is usually a problem in most large hotels, although there might be a few places with a no-escort policy - there's a fancy hotel in the centrum which stated this on the booking website but I can't remember the name and it's out of my price range anyway!.

Smaller hotels can be a bit more awkward, the first place I ever stayed in Amsterdam was the "Di-Ann" which had a strict "no visitors in rooms" policy. Anything which is "a small, family run hotel" is probably not the ideal venue for escort visits. In a big chain hotel, the staff aren't going to care that much what you do and the corporate owners want to cater for (potentially horny) business travellers, in a smaller hotel the staff/owners are much more aware of who is staying; an escort turning up will be more obvious and potentially awkward.

I think rules on visitors in the big hotels are mainly to do with fire safety (so they know how many people are staying), security and ensuring that people don't try to sneak in unpaid guests overnight. An escort for a couple of hours in a single room shouldn't be an issue but the hotel won't want them staying overnight (if you can afford an escort overnight you can afford a double room!)

If you are dealing directly with an escort and are able to give them your room number, in most places they can just walk in and come to your room, or you can come down to the lobby to wait for them if there are keycard-operated doors or lifts. It's unlikely they will be challenged, it would be very awkward to accost a paying guest by accident - "excuse me madam, I can't help noticing that you are dressed like a prostitute?"!!!

I've not dealt with escorts from agencies, but I've had numerous room visits from a couple of regular girls who had escort experience, we never had any problems, and from talking to them it was fairly uncommon to have any issues apart from some hotel staff being rude to them. It would be worth asking your escort if she has any opinions on hotels, she will know the ones to avoid! I get the impression that regular escorts prefer typical anonymous chain hotels e.t.c rather than visiting some pokey room in a tiny hotel with potentially awkward desk staff. If a hotel is really "cheap and nasty" or more like a hostel, some escorts might decline to visit it.

A beautiful escort, maybe a glass of red wine courtesy of Albert Heijn.... sounds good, I'd be interested to read how you get on!

I guess if a girl turns up at reception and announces herself but I don't see how they can be sure enough to challenge her otherwise. The rare times I have seen girls in hotels I have said my friend will be joining me later and either met them outside or there's been a way in separate to the reception area. If she was stopped my reaction would be "How dare you call my girlfriend a prostitute"!!!
