I know this probably should go in the Weed section but that area does not get a lot of eyes so I added it here as a general information guide to coffeeshops in Amsterdam.

Still seems to be plenty. I know a lot went in Oude Kerk RLD area because of the kindergarten and some near Singel RLD on NZB presumably because of the same reason. Are any closures schools related or they still trying to close as many as possible (or even worse "weed pass")?

As far as I know, the closures were because of violations of the 1000 meter rule related to schools.
That took out Anyday in the Singel, and a few other smaller shops.
I don't know of any recent closures, or any upcoming threats.
The mayor still talks about additional closures, and one press report discussed closing up to 60% of he shops in the Centrum. There was almost no support in the city council for this, and I have heard nothing more for over a year.
She has enough problems as it is, and her support going forward is shaky.
The Weitpass idea ran into a problem with reality last year, when it became clear that the Netherlands could not impose that type of restriciton on any EU resident. It would violate EU regulations. They could impose new rules on non-EU residents, but that would not accomplish what they are looking for. It has been discussed for decades. Nothing has ever happened, and there does not appear to be any plan to do anything different going forward.
On the topic of bad plans being poorly executed, the City Council settled on the site in south Amsterdam near RAI for a proposed "Eros Center". This does not mean any current site would close, it would just encourage voluntary movement of windows. It is supposed to be built with private funds, but no private investors have been identified. AND, best of all, the contracts between the city and the European Medicines Commission, and multiple hotels in the are involve provisions against undesirable developments in the area. They have all put the city on notice that an Eros Center would be undesirable, and they have lawyered up. This is not going to happen.

Thanks, 420XXX. Perfect timing for me. I land in 2 1/2 weeks.

Staying in De Pijp offers a lot of decent CS options. Museumplein/Vondelpark area has nothing. I guess I either have to go to Overtoom and see if Blue Lagoon is a decent place or tram it up to the touristy places in Leidesplein and hit Rookies, a friendly place.

Wondering what's the best CS near Centraal Station to pick up some first-day weed and hash before I head to the hotel? Looks like all the prices are touristy and I'm unsure if the quality is decent.

My "go-to" CS after arriving at Central Station has always been The Greenhouse Centrum. I enjoyed walking through the RLD with a stop at this famous CS. A tad pricey but nostalgia gets the best of me.

My first voyage to Amsterdam was a weekend visit while touring London,,, got bored and jumped on EasyJet and spent a Saturday in 2001 (right after 9/11 so it was not as crowded). I did stop at the Jolly Joker first since they were open early but I stuck to my map and wandered up to the Greenhouse. I got so stoned I ended up chilling at the Europub watching soccer with a bunch of Brits...too funny when I couldn't understand a word they were saying and then loudly asked "do you speak English? The bar erupted in laughter. The Coin and Hunters was another option to stop and chat with Withnail

In 1993, my first trip, I didn't even smoke, but was awed by the freedom of Amsterdam. I mostly indulged in windows, escorts, and clubs to the extent my budget allowed, but bought a few guilders worth of weed for the symbolism.

I eventually began smoking again. I think DeRokerij II was right near CS; it was attractive, chilled-out, and friendly. I miss that place and the twenty or so others that surrounded the immediate CS area.

What sucks is that I'm planning on taking the train from Schiphol to CS after I land, pick up the cannabis, and then tram it down to my hotel---with my luggage. So wheeling through the rancid corpse of the RLD, even during the day, with heavy luggage at age 64 is a no-go.

I may just hit a place off northern Damrak for convenience. DeKroon? Who knows. Or just hold off and go to Katsu on my way to Park 118 or try Blue Lagoon.

The joke is that now NYC has 3.5g of 27% THC for about $15 in 1500+ shops and oils that make isolator hash as potent as a Shirley Temple.
