Anyone stayed at this hotel? Is it a good area to stay, any close places of interest nearby?
Oh and how far is it to the RLD from there?

Thanks.

if you're referring to this hotel http://www.hotelmaas.nl/

I stayed there last year, was pretty good
I had a room with a canal view, would say it's definately worth the small extra

It was my first time to the Dam so didn't know how far exactly I'd have to walk to get to the RLD, it took around 30 - 45 mins to get there, it wasn't a major problem but next time I think I will go somewhere closer.

If you want a hotel/hostel close to red light, I always go for The bulldog Hotel. They have private rooms, and you can light up after breakfast.

It takes you 3 minuttes and you can see the first window.

You also have a private bar just for the hotel guests

Sure you dont mean Hemp Hotel? If so its a 20min tram ride up town or a good 40min walk to the centre. Hemp is in a nice quiet location by a canal going south.

quite fine in terms of quality. However the location is completely dependant on what you want and/or need. You are way out of the city center and after 12:15 you'll need to cab it as the night busses are a pain. There are no local places of normal tourist interest (coffee shops, bars, clubs, museums, RLD, restaurants) nearby . It is more suitable for people looking for a quiet place doing business on the outskirts (where many of the factories and offices are) and who want to be near the ring roads. Regards. Roland

Why not try the nadia. www.nadia.nl - its dead central - tiny rooms - friendly and all refurbished about 60e a night this time of year. You'll hardly be in your room anyway!

mido tbh I only visited bettyboops coffee shop when I was there which is about 20mins from the hotel, but I did see others in that area certainly, there are a few around the leidseplein so you wont have a problem

there's also a burgerking right there as well, which I spent much of my time in :)
