Hello all,

I don't recall if this topic has been discussed in the past - sorry if there's a thread already with some infos available, but I was wondering if any on you could point me to a few tips on how to find work in the Netherlands, even without being fluent in the local language. Is there a chance? What kind of positions are available?

Thanks,

A.W.

Short story...if you are from an EU country you might have a chance...but not speaking Dutch is a big handicap even though English is everywhere as a second language.

If you are not from the EU your only hope might be working for an out-of-country employer who will send you there.

There are exceptions...but not many...

For more details use the search tool.

cheers, neurosynth

Ii is not too difficult to find a job here if you are from an EU country. I know plenty of people who have done it. If you are from outside EU things will get more difficult.

If you can speak any european language even Spanish, you could easily find work in the Netherlands. Most educated Americans speak a little French or Spanish. To become fluent it would take 2 years. The problem is that these types of courses are only offered during the day. You would have to be a day time student. It would be impossible if you do not have a BS in something already.

If you have a BS in Nursing you can work anywhere in the world.

You could become a hooker if you are a girl or a good looking guy.

But hooking still requires an EU passport or a work permit. Besides, they’re required to register officially to work in the trade in NL.

Maybe panhandling or becoming a joker playing some tricks at the Dam Square may work without a work permit or EU passport. You don’t need to speak any Dutch either :) I hate to tell you, they actually make good money being a street person, much more than minimum wage.

Now, I believe NL is a non-violent country. They're simply asking for donations, it's volunatary contribution from the tourists, unlike the pickpocket lowlife counterpart.

thank you all for your replies. I am an EU citizen and I am fluent in at least one more european language other than english... so it seems it might not be too difficult to relocate there.
