Every time I visit A'dam I notice random bricks around the city ( I remember one in the Oudekerk area) that say " hier uw huisvuil ". Does it translate to "Here is your filthy house?" What is the significance of these bricks? Anyone?

thanks

Close...it's more "house dirt" - it's where city dwellers are supposed to place their garbage bags for pickup.

Yeah - "Vuil" is also "dirty".

The exact translation, if anyone's keeping score, is "household rubbish"
