I checked the weather that tomorrow is a fair day, decided to get on the train tomorrow moring.
Heard it's hard to find a room at weekend, and as a poor student surely wouldn't I pay over 70euro for a night , so i am wondering to spend the night in other places such as 24-hour cinema :) anybody can offer me nice advices? Somebody posted that there are some really cheap hotels around A'd, I am just afraid when i finally find them---they are full :((
Suggestions needed.
I go on searching clues, any reply would be much appreciated.

Go to the Tourist Information Center directly across from Central Station and stand in line, will definitely get the best accomodations for lowest deals from Hotels with available rooms.
This service is updated daily by most of the local hotels in the Amsterdam area and will run you much less than 95% of any Internet sites,, maybe AXXXTW Hotel site would be worth a look as well?

Just to add to the advice from 420. The tourist office he talks of is called the VVV, don't know what it stands for but that's what they call themselves. the one outside central station can be realy busy and you coul;d easily lose half an afternoon queueing - standing in line. There is another one inside Central Station, can't remember what platform it's on but it is a lot less well known and therefore not so busy. There is another one at Schipol also which should be less busy as well but I think I read you were driving so you probably won't be out that way.

Hope this helps

Dave

i would say that if you have nothing booked for this coming weekend then you are in for a lot of door knocking. the town is packed out due to the Sail2005 event which starts next wednesday. this nautical treat only comes around once every 5 years and you are unlucky enough to have planned a last minute trip on the weekend when most of the boat fans arrive in amsterdam.

i met a young scottish couple last night in de tweede kamer desperately hunting for a room. they werent the only ones i came across yesterday who were more than a little perplexed at the lack of availability.

best of luck!

No matter what, stand in line!! You will eventually find something thru this service and will surely have better luck than wandering around the streets looking for a room. The longest I have ever had to stand in line was about an hour, much less time than walking from hotel to hotel and standing in their check in lines only to find out that they are booked. At worst case, you may end up having to stay out by the airport .

I think they changed the name,, it is no longer called VVV... One last thing,, check out the Restaurant on the bottom floor of the building,, great view of the Harbor and good food.
