Hi axxxtw and ded. Well in true Pepto fashion, I read the Amsterdam board only Sunday at 5PM EST and I find Dr John the night tripper playiong with Branford Marsalis on sax. I hope they rerun Tower of Power, I'd really love to see that one. How long dows this festival run?

Not 100 % sure but I think through Sunday.

Cheers,

Dedalus, who use to love hearing Dr. John play down on Bourbon St.

"Moonlight on the Bayou,
Creole tunes fill the air.
I keep dreamin' 'bout Magnolias in June,
Walk down Bourbon St. and I hear,
Dr. John a playin' there."

Missed it all - but sounds like a good event.
I'm coming to Amsterdam at the end of August (yay!) and will have no problem satisfying my more basic urges, but I've not yet found a nice smokable club/coffeeshop with live music. I like alternative music generally, and enjoy a good bit of 'World' music when I've got a joint on the go, can anyone recommend a venue within sensible traveling (walking - staggering) distance of the city centre?
Thanx.
