BillyBob is starting to give some consideration to his yearly mongering vacation and was thinking about Mexico for a change.

Anyone been there and give some advice?
Any forums dedicated to mongering there?

From what I’ve read some deem it to be a dangerous place.
But bearing in mind that I’m a relatively seasoned traveller and have been to places such as Angeles, Philippines and Cambodia (see my trip report), is it really that dangerous?

It's a pretty downscale experience. If it were me and I wanted to stay in N America I'd give Montreal a try.

I've been to TJ a few times, but none recently. There is pretty decent coverage on WSG about TJ. Allot of activity it seems. There is an area referred to as "Zona Rosa" which is the official, legal red light district with a slew of brothels. IMHO Adelita's was the best, but other mongers might prefer others. If you go to google maps, you can actually see the streetview and see some of the places during daylight hours.
However, there are allot of taxi scams, clip joints, etc that effect gringo's down there. If you are not from the area, are alone, and don't study up on the area, it can be pretty sketchy. The community on the WSG forum seems to be pretty tight and gives allot of updated information. There also links to some of the brothels websites. You can always google "Chicago TJ" "Adelitas TJ" Hong Kong TJ" and will get you some usefull information too.

I would not go to TJ alone. Most of the action happens at night and the area is a bit dodgy. You can be easily robbed or worse. The police presence is to protect the tourists.

I've heard good things from people, but they went more than 3 years ago. Right now it's just not safe enough for me to make a trip... I mean, it's never really totally safe but in the past you could minimize that. Now... I wouldn't even go from the U.S. side to the Brothel in an armored car.

The armored vehicle saved the Chief of Police from getting killed last year. It's a good way to travel in TJ.

Hey there Smuler! Yes I do remember... I think we were reminiscing about TJ? I suppose I could go back to the previous posts and have a look, but I'm WAY too lazy for that (HAHAHA). I haven't been to the board until recently simply because I had been to busy with a career ... laid off a few months ago and bored now. Thinking about mongering again ... looking into BKK or Pattaya. TJ was an afterthought, but still did a little research just to see what the scene was like.

I agree with the assesment not too flash your money around. I supposse that goes without saying anywhere, but especially there of all places. Also, watch out for the "TAXI SCAMS," the Taxi drivers that pick you up at the border crossing, when you tell them you want to go to Adelita's, they will try to take you to a club where they have an agreement with the management. These clubs tend to be clip joints and don't offer more than a naked lady on stage. The last time I went with a couple of friends to TJ the Taxi guy I got tried this with us. Luckily I was with 2 other straping lads my weight and height, so after an assertive NO, he took us the rest of the way. But if you were on your own and unfamiliar with TJ it might get ugly.

I have mongered in the border towns of Tex- Mex for the last 26 years and here is my opinion on the current scene- I have mongered in all border towns except Mexacali and Tijuana..

Since you have experience in Thailand, Phils and Cambodia I think you will do OK in Mex. Other than phuckin there aint no reason to vacation in a border town, however if bangin is all you are lookin to do there is still plenty of bank for the buck in Mex.

I believe you mentioned August as the month you are considering- go to TJ in August - not Texas or AZ- it is way too hot in Aug in TX and AZ.

In Texas the best border towns are as follows- Laredo, Del Rio- Acuna, Eagle Pass- PN and lastly Reynosa.

Fly into SD- get down to San Yasidro CA and go over the border during daylight- take a taxi to Revolution Ave and walk around during the day. If you intend to drink you should consider stayin on the Max side of the border. If you are not drinking- stay on the US side of the border in San Yasidro.

You can walk around on Rev Ave Ave during the day and drink beer and hang out and you aren't gonna be kidnapped or gunned down. If you want to take a taxi to La Zona during the day to look around and get your bearings then do so- but go back to Adelitas and Chicago Clubs at night- take a taxi and do not venture into areas other than where the door girls are and Hong Kong Club.

Negociate with the Chica if you want DATY etc- it is definately available for the cash. You can have a good time in the clubs in the border towns- some of the best sexo I have ever had has been in Mex border towns and I have also been to Ams, Thailand, the Phils and Costa Rica.

Go to Costa Rica if you can however Mexico aint all that bad if you keep after your mission at hand- there are diamonds in them there hiils amigo.

Is it safe- yes and no. Sometimes yes sometimes no. Can you be shaken down by cops - maybe yes maybe not. Can you find a great phuck for a great price - yes. Can you encounter an occasional lame phuck- yes. Does most of the food in Mex suck- yes. Is there some decent food - yes-. Can you easily get real Viagra- yes.

In summary- for any totally serious global monger- if you miss Mex in your life you have missed one of the great adult male playgrounds. Mex has both positive and negative aspects for a gringo punter. The cartels, thugs, touts etc have easier marks than an experienced traveler. Take a taxi everywhere- do not talk to touts- there is a chance you will be shaken down by TJ cops- remain calm- do not carry any pills, weed or viagra on your person. Do not wander off the main strip. Do not drink and drive in Mex or near the border in Calif or anywhere else in Calif.

My advice if you go- check it out during daylight. Take a taxi everywhere after dark. Eat on the US side of the border but some decent food can be found on the Mex side. You now need a passport to walk across the border. If you drink stay on the Mex side in a motel or hotel or make sure there are taxi cabs on the US side. Lots of DUI check points on the CA side near the border.

I still travel in dangerous places and I am glad I still do so.... you will probably see Fed Cops with machine guns etc- do not worry. You might even get a shake down - search by cops- do not worry. Get to Adelitas- Chicago- and Hong Kong- roll the dice, negociate, have fun, repeat and report back to us. Have fun Amigo-

I was just inTJ this last Dec. and had a great time. I stayed in San Diego, parked my rental car near the border,walked across alone and never had any problems. You just take a Taxi to and from the border straight to the clubs at night for $5 each way. I was alone and I'm a pretty small guy and felt safe. My favorite club is Hong Kong club, similar to a US strip club and played US music. For $1 tips most girls will let you feel them up and some even allowed some finger action. They have a 2 girl shaving cream show that's really wild. Most girls will go to the hotel next door for $60 + $15 for the room for about 30 minutes. The other main club is Adelites where all the girls will go the the hotel same price. There they all just kind of stand around waiting to get picked up to the room. Anyway I would recommend TJ and staying in San Diego. There is much to do in San Diego with their zoo, golf, water activities, etc. Tenperature stays in the 70's with lows in the 60's most of the year. I've already booked another trip this fall.

I've stayed at the Good Nite Inn in Chula Vista on my visits. It's about halfway between San Diego and TJ right off the interste, easy access to both. It's a cheap place, safe, not bad.

I lived in San Diego my whole life aside from the past few years and have mongered in TJ hundreds of times. Actually the first time I was there was when I was 16 with high school friends many decades ago ... an awesome experience hitting the bars and strip clubs.

The information already provided in the thread is accurate and well documented.

I would just emphasize the following:

1) The WSG forum is great for following the current state of the place and some girl reviews.

2) I don't think it is the best overall mongering experience because at this time it probably isn't best to be wandering around the city. Revolution is the main drag that would bring some experience to check out but since the drug wars I probably wouldn't wander around here much either (although probably fine to do so). I always found it safe to get in a taxi at the border, tell them Adelitas (in the Zona Rosa), either go into Adelitas or the street with the Hong Kong club around the corner to select a girl, and then get a taxi back to the border. I just feel more comfortable in the day but I would go at night often as well, I just would not wander around.

3) Some taxi drivers will tell you they have a good place to take you (most won't). I never had a taxi driver do anything bad to me other than this ... they make money from the references. Don't do it just tell them Adelitas. I have a story about a mistake I made doing this once ... not a recommended place I was taken to ... lol!

4) Over the years sometimes guys on the street will start talking to you and tell you they have the best girls, etc. Don't do it just ignore them. There is a gang in this area and some of these people try to lure unsuspecting visitors around the corner from the Chicago club and mug them. There are cameras on the Chicago Club street and the main street with the street girls but not around the corner. The Chicago Club street and the main street with the girls is the same street on different sides of the main intersecting street with Adelitas on it. Anyway, you shouldn't have any problems on this street because of the cameras but don't walk past the Chicago club and go around that corner. I have a story about a mistake I made doing this a long time ago ...

5) There usually are not many girls in Adelitas during the day. On weekends, one can probably find a few hot girls in the afternoon but most of the girls show up at night and the place gets packed. I like Adelitas and visited the girls there maybe 30% of the time. In the old days the girls in these TJ strip clubs would let guys eat them out on stage for a dollar tip ... a riot to watch. As they would move around the stage they were getting groped by everybody and dollars getting thrown on stage. I suppose it happens from time to time now but it used to be common place and part of the experience especially with the strip clubs along Revolution.

6) 70% I would find a girl on the street next to Adelitas. Most of these girls are not very attractive but there are usually a few pretty hot ones in the mix and many of the girls start show up around noon unlike Adelitas. The WSG forum talks about them so you can recognize them. Once I saw a girl that just arrived in the city walking down the street and I was her first customer ... really hot. Another time I found this really hot 18 year old and just kept visiting her for 10 weeks straight ... she had just started working there and was really personable and so hot ... felt like gfe (used condom). I would usually pay $35-$40 for full service from these girls. An astounding $20 for straight sex with no bj and top on (almost never chose this option).

7) The vast majority of the street girls are strict about using a condom so I have always found the girls there safe from an std perspective ...

8) Waiting at the border can be a bit of a pain. I don't know how it has been the last few years but you can end up waiting 45-60 minutes or more crossing the border to get back into the US. There are alot of tourists crossing on the weekends and alot of Mexicans cross every day. I once stayed in a nice Hotel near Revolution for a few nights which was nice to avoid these lines.
