It's been about 8 years since I was last in Montreal but I ate at a cracking good restaurant across the street from Jacques Villeneuve's pub "Newtown" which he has now sold. I was staying in a hotel two blocks over from Mont Royal so it was a very easy walk down to this part of town. Also, directly across the street from his pub was a great bar with a night club on the upper level. The beers were very reasonably priced also. My problem was, I was looking for reviews on merc.ca.
