1. The current "Meet-up" page has been withdrawn from service. It will be hauled to Taiwan where it will be broken up and melted and recycled into tin cans and automobiles.
In it's place we have created a shiny new forum. It's a much better solution, as it includes all of the features of the Message Board. We have set access to "registered members" only to preserve privacy, if desired. We apologize for that, to any and all exhibitionists.
We have moved posts currently in "Meet-up" to the new forum, but minus the replies.
2. The long awaited return of that most critical of forum features---user signatures--- has now been restored. Your signature of choice will now be added to every post you make from here on. Please keep it relatively non-stupid. Impress everyone with your wit!
3. Another project:
(We do more than pass out chocolates ;-)
The search built into phpBB---our Message Board software is rubbish. phpBB is notorious for this piece of uselessness.
I have been working on implementing a new search solution, and it works quite well.
It's installed and working. We thought a handy search box on the nav was a nice way to go. It saves one whole click!
The entire library of posts has not been indexed yet...it's huge, so we're not going to do this until we're satisfied we've got everything the way we want it.
We'll continue to tweak it while it's live.

hmmm... I tried this, and it does not pick up everything it should, I did a few simple tests. So maybe some posts are actually now missing and this is why the search did not work or there is another problem. You also cannot specify which board to search, and there is no provision for AND and OR clauses.
On another topic whcih I hope you know about. The new Trip Report section has no reports from 2006 and 2007, and only parts of 2008 and 2005. I asume this is because this a woprk in progress but if not..................

The Search is still being configured and tweaked, it's not all there yet.
Same for the Trip Report forum...it's not all there yet.
The log-in problem is being worked on. Give us time.
We've said something like this already ;-)

Just trying to help here AX. I only wrote as others were praising something which to me didn't seem to be finished: And you have now confirmed this to be the case.
Good luck, or better still good testing...........

Axxxtw - I know curiousity killed the Kat, but just out of curiousity, what is the "Uncovered Amsterdam" MB for? I guess you're test running it at the moment.
Peace

Mr dear jgramos...
We set it to be visible to all to irritate people, naturally ;-) Yes, it's in the test stage. It will consist of entirely new content. There's a hint of what that will be in the forum name and description. It will not be a public forum. Initially, access will be for Supporting Members only. Beyond that, I'm not telling...right now ;-)
Beste.

Fair enough Sir Axxxtw.
I do like the "Statistical Snapshot" in The Device, an interesting read.
Speak soon,
Peace

I receive "Sorry, but only users granted special access can read posts in this forum."
when trying to access the BB Amsterdam. Is it normal?
