Although not specifically about Amsterdam, there should be a place on this forum to link this documentary. Its about time world leaders broke the taboo of debating drugs, and started looking at things scientifically rather than in terms of their own prejudices, or what they think people will or won't vote for.

There is a bit at the end where one of the former South American presidents visits the Dampkring, and the Netherlands are held up as a positive example no matter what the current Justice Minister thinks on the subject.

Never going to change the minds of old close minded politicians. Just have to let people see that politicians are merely defending the alcohol and tobacco industries by refusing to move on weed.

Beer and ciggies are bad for you and weed is good for you. Weed is illegal. Do politicians have the best interests of their voters at heart? I don't think so.

ps so obviously Opelstien can fuck off.

i watched this all the way through a few weeks ago and was surprised that only a small amount of the documentary is about cannabis (although amsterdam does get a mention, of course), the film-makers seemingly focusing more on the importing of cocaine and heroin into westernized countries and the impact that industry has on the countries producing these drugs.

the greatest thing about this "yet another legalize drugs" campaign is that the solution they are suggesting here isn't particularly far-fetched and - in my eyes at least - could well see implementation with the weight of all these "big names" thrown behind it. one can dream, eh?

they've even got morgan freeman narrating it, so it's gotta be good! haha

in all seriousness though, it was a good watch. i'd recommend checking it out if you haven't seen it already.
