I've just heard that apparently all four Rokerij coffee shops have been closed with immediate effect. Licenses revoked. I will update with more info as and when I can find out a bit more.

It's very hard to stay optimistic about the Coffeeshop (and increasingly the RLD) situation in Amsterdam! This is shame. I've not actually visited a Rokerij shop before but I know a lot of my friends are fans.

OK, I have an update on this story. Seems I should check my facts before posting...
Shops are currently still open. I'm told the big shop at Leidseplein will close permanently two weeks from now. The others may follow but I've no confirmation of that.
Sorry to have things a little incorrect initially.

wow, that sucks. Rokerij Leidseplein is the most beautiful coffeeshop in A'dam. such a chill place to hang out at night, although they are not known for their weed, service, or attitude, still a great place

This evening I was told another story that they are to be closed for one year, apparently for exceeding their stock limit (by rather a large amount according to my latest 'source'). Who knows where the truth actually lies? I guess we'll see in 2 weeks time.

Sorry to have things a little incorrect initially. I hadn't heard about it anywhere, but I visited the Rokerij on the Singel and everthing seemed to be in order, and I heard no mention of any closure. Under what grounds, does anyone know, are their licences being revoked? Not that Dutch law and politics require concrete proof of midsconduct - according to my knowledge reasonable doubt or suspicion may be enough.

http://www.parool.nl/parool/nl/4024/AMS ... hops.dhtmlNow it's official news. Sad times for the city to lose four more shops in one hit. I understand that the next victim of the authorities is already lined up. A rather well-known business on the St.Antoniebreestraat. This coming June is zero hour, according to my sources....

I also read that Extase may have closed last week. Always sad to see a shop closed, but it was shit to be honest.
Peace

To be fair, rather than a fun police intervention I think its more a case of 250 kilos in a lorry still being illegal...
