Having survived the dreaded weed pass in Amsterdam it seems that the conservative government has a couple of aces to destroy coffeeshop culture.

Many of my friends are concerned about the closing of coffeeshops that are too close to schools (but not bars?) starting on 1 January. I have not seen much about this on the forums. Any comments from those who would know better?

The THC content may be next.

There are several that have to close either because of the 1012 Project and/or less 350M from a school. This will help a bit. http://issuu.com/peterlunk/docs/antwoor ... -02-2013/1

Today the city announced which coffeeshops will be closed and when they have to close:

It's in Dutch, but I guess the names and dates speak for themselves.

All the shops in that list have to change their opening times as well. Starting the 1st of january 2014 until they have to close the opening times are restricted on mon-friday from 18:00 till 01:00. In weekends and schoolholidays the normal opening times apply.

The rules regarding restricted hours until these shops have their licences revoked are because they are within SIGHT of a school.
Apparently, the coulcil believes that seeing the shops during school hours will be tolerable as long as they do not open until 1800. If school is not in session, they can open whenever they bloody well please.
And I thought politicians in MY country were morons!
While most of these shops were dumps, I hate to see Anyday and De Kuil on the list.
Two of my favorite, and first coffeeshops.
