Well finally someone is advertising with us! We disabled the "network" ads---those Viagra and Casino and etc ads.

Let's keep those silly "network" ads off this site---and YOU can help. Our intentions are to remove those while we have real ads. Show the adverisers that their ads work for them on this site, and you'll ensure that those other 'ads' don't appear here.

The products being advertised are two Amsterdam DVD's made recently, Inside Amsterdam and The Dopers Guide to Amsterdam. We believe these productions are from folks who contacted us several months ago, for some advice and help. Being leary of participation in these sorts of things, after being burned too many times to count, we declined participation. Its our rule for ourselves now. We may be wrong, but its our rule for now,

Nevertheless the producers were very gracious and sympathetic to our 'acquired' attitude, and they went ahead and produced what look like two very fine DVD's.

Please support this site by clicking on and visiting the DVD site. and please consider purchasing them---we know many of you enjoy video on Amsterdam. If you do, please post reviews here and get the word out.

Again, please show the advertisers that advertising here works, we really need some financial support around here---an independent site such as this does not allow that many options for raising operating funds---and you can help us in a big way by patronising those who choose to advertise with us.

On the T-shirt project. According to notification received, they're printed and in the process of being delivered, We'll put up a photo of the real article as soon as we see an example.

Just ordered both titles....been lookin for Amsterdam vids for a while now....its nice to put them on when we go cold turkey.

See, ads do work on here.....right, theres a big 40 foot truck outside my house with "Viagra" up the side of it and i have an online gambling debt of several million pounds.

Needless to say once we have viewed them we will report back.

Inside Amsterdam is kinda' campy, kinda' funny, and my kid's friends (all late twenties) watched it without saying much. and staring at the screen a lot.

Also, Dopper Guide DVD is VERY similar to Inside Amsterdam DVD (I picked up both)

Do not order both. They are the same video. I made the mistake of ordering both. As a video it is ok. I agree that it is campy. When he throws his weed away instead of smoking it, I almost laughed.

I bought both and they are the same video....one video is well worth the money but they definitely did a disservice by promoting 2 separate dvd's that are exactly the same......I am very disappointed by this slight.....if you buy anything, buy only one cause they are the same.
If they promoted just one then I would have given a great review as it is a quality dvd, but I must say that I feel ripped off for buying both

Well, I too was upset, but they are not "exactly" the same. Inside Amsterdam has a portion devoted to the history of the city that is not in the other DVD. While the other version has slightly more footage about the hash/marijuana scene.

I will also say this, if the DVDs are each 2 hrs long, then 1hr and 50 minutes of them are exactly the same

I complained about this to the company and I must say, was extremely impressed with the customer service. They promply refunded me and told me they will update the website so nobody will get confused.
That being the case, I strongly recommend that people purchase the DVD (but beware of the similarities).
It is a high quality product for Amsterdam lovers and the customer service is very reputable!

I'd like to be sure the DVD is playable in the USA? I know CD's are, but DVD's are in different formats, and I didn't notice any distinction when I was trying to order?

they're USA-based it would seem so I would imagine they're NTSC (N. American video format) and probably not region encoded.

maybe someone who's received one can confirm. or you can always email the producers via their site.

I have 2 DVD players, just regular store bought ones

1 played the DVD
1 didn't and said "this disc could not be played"

you should be able to get moer info from them
and if it didn't play they might be able to help you

Just got the Doper's Guide in the mail and watched it right through. I must say that if you've never been to Mokum it may be a bit tedious at points and the sort of amateurish production annoyed me in spots. Overall however I will admit to hitting the travel sites the second it was done. I wanted to go back right that minute; the video is very true to many of the sites we all see when we visit this delightful little corner of our earth. Flawed and all I give it 4 out of 4 for it's loving depiction of the Dam! Yay Doper's Guide! Go buy it now!
