at home i tend to buy my smoke by the ounce as it's much cheaper that way.

i know there are officially rules on what coffeeshops can sell at one time (5g?) and what you are allowed to have on you for personal (30g?) but are these strictly adhered to as i would have thought that, particularly for locals, it would be cheaper to buy your fav bud in larger quantities?

anyone know the score on this and where deals can be had?

Central Coffeeshop has good €25 deals. The Noon does bulk deals for 5g.
If you fancy a short train ride to Haarlem then you can certainly get a much better deal at Willie Wortels chain - the 5g limit is not adhered to, and you are given additional 'free weight' when buying €25, €50 worth etc........I'm sure the guys there could do something very nice on a 50g deal......great weed/hash too!!
