i just have a few notes about this weeks inhalations. as i think i have mentioned here recently de graal coffeeshop has now run out of the sour diesel which was so wonderful and the guys there seem doubtful of its return. new on the menu this past fortnight is Lime Kush which is a pretty heavy hydro weed. i know little of its lineage but can tell you i really found smoking it a slightly unpleasent experience. ive tried a couple of bags of it to make sure i had a fair representation before commenting but im afraid i simply didnt like the couch lock effect and the heavy headedness it gave me. they still stock the Goldrup which i would recommend highly. prices are 5 euro for 0.77 gramme or 10 for double the volume.

popped over to katsu last night having not visited in a while. picked up a gramme of their Haze Silver Pearl at 10 euro. i had sampled this weed before and like very much the distinctive perfumed, hazey smell and taste. a nice relaxing head high and perfect with a cup of tea (not very scientific explanations i know but im afraid im not a botanist!) they also had the wonderfully named 'Killer Green' still on offer with a minimum purchase of 20 euro for 2 grammes. anybody with any views or experience with this bud id be curious to hear. i just like the name and thats usually enough to make me hand over the cash. i was also tempted by their Sage which was the same deal. another favourite weed of mine but it will have to wait till another time.

i have also been toking a little at the papillon coffee shop in de pijp. they have a special called, predictably, butterfly (papillon is french for butterfly) which is a very tasty white bud for 6.50 a gramme. the shop itself recently re-opened after being closed some time. it looks newly refurbished and sits on one of the prettiest sqaures in the area. try a smoke in there followed by dinner at the adjacent district V restaurant for a great night ( www.district5.nl ) with maybe dessert at park 118 prive huis, 2 minutes down the street walking alongside sarphatipark. you also have the miranda porn video store just down the street which boasts 10,000 titles. also in the very close neighbourhood you will find coffee shops katsu, nice place, club media, atlantis, space mountain, today, old style, blue sea, greenhouse tolstraat, de graal, holiday to name a few. the red light windows of the ruysdaelkade are a brief 10 minute stroll along ceintuurbaan where you can also check out all of the best computer stores in the city if you need any consumables. anyway, papillon comes recommended. my thanks to puffin for mentioning it previously as a great people watching spot and the staff are very sweet too. would make a great venue for a private party i think.

im going to pop into the grey area this afternoon as its been a while for me. have to see what john has come up with of late...

doog!

Hi Withnail,

I have tried the Killer Green from Katsu on a number of occassions and have to say that it is an excellent smoke. it is a well balanced cross (Sativa dominant), by no means the strongest weed I've ever smoked (Katsu holds that honour for the Neville's Haze they stocked about 4 years ago which was more like a rough acid trip than a THC induced chill - Green OM would have been a more appropriate name for it) but it has an excellent hazy taste (not too overpowering) and definitely takes you to a "happy place". I'd say it would be just right for a cruisy afternoon in the Amsterdam sunshine. If they still have it on the menu, the Hawaiian Haze was 1st class last time I was in town (Queen's Day), good strong cerebral high ((little to no body hit), and the Haze 1 (pure Sativa)) has always been a favourite of mine (very focused, you know the kind of thing - two joints and you ready to get your head round some Quantum Physics (though the taste (very hazy) may not be to everyone's palate)). I know Wortle's gets mixed reviews but if you happen to be in Harlem, I would really recommend Northern Haze (pure Sativa - stunningly clear and focused visual hit - no body hit at all) and the Mexican Haze (((Sativa/Indica cross (Sativa dom) - an excellent strong weed (you know you've smoked this one ;-))).

Regards from cold and grey Belfast ;-(

Nolan.

Hi Nolan

They no longer have the hawaiian haze though i remember that one well - very orange isnt it? i believe my partner in crime mr.paniked picked some up last time he was over. i also recall the haze no.1 but again i think it may be absent. they did have the mexican haze last night so maybe ill try that one next time im in there.

as for willie wortels, i keep threatening to make another trip out there but to be quite honest i find haarlem such a dull place that i really cant be arsed heading down there (even though the first WW shop is practically outside the train station). I do like the sound of the sativa you describe though so maybe this weekend i could head over that way. for now i still have a joints worth of the haze silver pearl here in my pocket which isnt going to survive the next couple of hours without getting smoked ;-)

4 seasons in one day here in amsterdam today. it doesnt know whether to rain or shine. im typing this watching a tall ship bobbing about over het ij. its like the onedin line over 'ere mate. anyway, thanks for the feedback on the buds.

doog!

Blister me barnacles (i believe you can have that for an extra €50 in the RLD ;-)) Mr Withnail! You're showing your age now - though i have to admit to remembering that Sunday night saga myself.

By the sound of that weather, I'd recommend splicing the main brace, batoning down the hatches, taking a few hefty lungfulls of that fine HSP and putting the Good Ship Withnail into port in Gollem in DePijp for the evening to see out such inclement conditions. :-)

I for one have come to appreciate Mr. Withnail's periodic bud reports. No one else here seems to be covering the subject to any great extent. I'll surely be looking for a review come December as I plan my next trip over.

I'm with you mate, as long as it goes perfect with a cup of tea that'll do nicely. Make no apologies for not being a botanist mate, compared to the ignorance experienced here in the UK you've got a PhD in weed science. All I see over here at the moment is people going yeah it's green I'm smoking with a big smile. When I enquire as to what kind of green the answer seems to be universally the same. "Don't know but I'm really stoned." followed by a grin.
