On Tuesday, Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport put into operation the first examples of its newest weapons in the "fight against terrorism", a new scanning system that allows security personnel to peer beneath the clothes of passengers. The technology in use differs from prior systems in that it uses something called "millemeter wave" technology, low energy radio waves, rather than potentially damaging x-rays, to peer beneath the trousers, jackets, skirts and bras of passengers. It's claimed that faces are blurred, but not chests and crotches. The individual who views these images is secluded in a private wank booth (the same design team were apparently behind the pay 'n' spray booths at sexyland), and if his clammy hands are free (undoubtedly these individuals will be exclusively male), he will then signal his fellow security operatives/pervs to let the passenger pass. It's only a matter of time until some website operator, or even "artiste", acquires a sampling of these images, and displays them for the sake of art and profit. We'd better start looking up available domain names. Now. |
