What's surprising, according to a poll of 15,000 European hoteliers conducted by Expedia.co.uk., isn't that the Japanese are considered the best overall tourists, nor that the second best bunch of tourists are Americans (who have maintained their place since 2004 when the poll was last conducted), nor that the Brits have moved up a mere 5 places from dead last since the last poll (dead last is now occupied by French tourists), nor even that the Americans are considered the worst dressers, followed by the Brits. No surprise. It's that Canadian tourists, who come in at a very banal ninth place, still delusionally traipse around the continent sporting their little Canadian flag patches on items of apparel and luggage to announce smugly "We're polite and well behaved (We're not Americans)."
